Moderator and Emcee Jobs in Kenya

REF: MOD/002: Moderator

CEO Network Forum

We are looking for a qualified Moderator to propel our CEOs Networking Forum that will be held on the 31st of this month at the Hilton Hotel.

Roles
  • Review and fully understand the theme of the event in sufficient depth to keep a response or a discussion on target—if the format allows follow-up questions, the moderator should know when the topic has been covered.
  • Facilitate the question and answer session and ensure that response from the audience and the speaker is audible and clear.
  • Profile speakers prior to the event and clarify any queries they may have regarding the theme of the event.
  • Make sure there are nameplates for the attendees
  • Provide alternative presentation for speakers unskilled at presenting.
  • Ensure the participants look good in front of the audience as well as being the "conscience of the audience", asking the very questions on their minds, but are perhaps too nervous or afraid to ask in person.
  • Know beforehand if media is covering the event so that the attendees are prepared
Skills and competencies
  • Should be able to employ humor if appropriate. Although the subjects are serious and heavy, there is always room for some levity.
  • Should avoid technical discussions that veer away from the major issue.
  • Should be able to ask a questioner to get to the point of the question without appearing rude.
  • Should stay neutral.
  • Ability to display energy and personal engagement in the forum
  • Should use a warm, comfortable style that makes people feel at ease.
  • Should be familiar with the goals of The People Speak and its format and approach.
  • Confidence—the moderator should be at ease with the medium, the issues and the format.
  • Should be spontaneous—even the most rigid of event formats are not immune to the unexpected, and flexible formats require fast thinking.
  • Should be highly presentable
Qualification and experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in public relations/communication or its equivalent
  • At least 5years working as a moderator for corporate events.
  • Prior experience with the media is an added advantage.
Candidates who meet the above requirements should send their cover letters, Cv  to hr@platinum1solutions.com not later than 18th May 2013.Include the ref in the subject line.
