Head of Business Development Job in Nairobi Kenya

A flower shop located in Nairobi is looking for a Head of Business Development. The Flower shop is a new venture started in 2012 and delivers exquisite flowers for every occasion. It has a number of wholesale clients but wants to grow its retail client base. It is strategically located and already boasts of a number of small regular and loyal clients.

The new Head of Business Development will lead and oversee the development and growth of profitable new business and develop and maintain effective key customer relationships.

He/she will be responsible for all aspects of managing potential and existing customers and will also ensure business growth through directing and managing business development activities to ensure these are delivered in accordance with the organizational strategy.

Responsible to: the Board/CEO

External relationships: Potential and existing customers, suppliers of floral shop items
Internal relationships: Staff members, board
Salary:  Reasonable base and commission of new business profit, Negotiable depending on candidate
Hours:  Negotiable
Location:  Nairobi
NB: someone with a vehicle already a plus – fuel expenses to be reimbursed

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Company’s vision and strategy 
  • Support the overall process of management and decision-making to ensure the organization maximizes its short, medium and long-term profitability and shareholder returns
  • Manage the shop and develop, review, and report on the business development division’s strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are executed
Management of the Overall Business Development Function Including: 
  • Impact the profitability of the company through ensuring strategic and tactical management decisions and new business development results
  • Marketing
  • Competitor and market analysis
  • Develop and lead in sourcing, managing and implementing new business opportunities
  • Ensure efficient and effective marketing, advertising and promotional planning.
  • Present a budget for board approval and prudently manage resources within those budgetary guidelines according to company policy and within ethical corporate governance guidelines
  • Maintain and develop organizational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies
