Job Title : Head of Internal Audit - 1 Post
Grade : KFS 4
Reporting To : The Audit Committee Of The Board Functionally And To The Director Administratively
Location : Based At KFS Head Office, Karura.
Reporting to the Director, the position serves to provide strategic leadership in the management of KFS internal audit function to ensure compliance with the set systems and policies.
Overall responsibilities:
- Evaluate the
adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls relating to risks involved
in the relevant business areas in accordance with established risk
assessment framework.
- Coordinate
dynamic planning through continuous monitoring of the business and
undertake risk based audits.
- Monitor
implementation of action plans and recommendations.
- Review means of
safeguarding assets and verify existence of assets.
- Advise
management on effective cost control and revenue maximization measures.
- Advise
management on external audit queries
- Oversee and
ensure preparation of timely reports to the Director and audit committee.
- Ensure
supervision, appraisal and training of personnel in audit unit.
- Developing and
reviewing audit manuals.
- Perform any
other duty as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications,
experience and key competencies
- A Bachelors
degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent qualification from an
accredited university
- A Masters degree
in Accounting or Finance or Strategic management or business
administration or equivalent qualification from an accredited university
will be an added advantage
- Be a Certified
Public Accountant or certified chartered accountant or equivalent
qualification
- At least eight
(8) years working experience handling the audit function five (5) of which
must be in a comparable position in a large and reputable Organization
- Must have CISA
or CIA or equivalent qualification
- Must have
knowledge of Computerized Aided Audit Techniques
- Must be a member
of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or an
equivalent professional body
- A team player
with strong organizational, leadership and analytical skills
- Proven
proficiency in enterprise resource planning systems & MS office suite
- Good
communication and report writing skills
Job
Title : Remote Sensing Officer - 1 Post
Grade : KFS 7
Reporting To : Head Of Forest Planning And Information System
Location : Based At KFS Head Office, Karura.
The Kenya Forest Service is developing institutional capacity for central GIS and remote sensing hub to support the sustainable management of forests through modern technology.
This
will require specialized personnel in remote sensing data collection and
distributed GIS systems to facilitate field staff to undertake forest resource
assessment
Overall responsibilities
- Development and
management of forest cover monitoring system
- Setting of
standards for collection, input and storage of remotely sensed data for
detecting forest cover changes and forest health arising from
deforestation, forest degradation and enhanced forest conservation
programmes
- Coordinate
gathering, analysis and modeling of remotely sensed forest data
- Produce
periodical updates of forest cover and forest cover change (change
detection)
- Assist in
building the required capacity for conducting forest resource assessment
through remote sensing technology and maintain forest resource database.
- Advising the
Service on changes in forest cover
- Liaising with
other stakeholders in the field of remote sensing
Qualifications,
experience and key competencies
- A minimum of
Bachelors degree in Geo-informatics, Surveying, Remote Sensing or
equivalent from an accredited university
- A minimum of
three (3) years of working experience in application of remote sensing
technology
- Practical
experience in use of remote sensing software application in natural
resource assessment and or monitoring is an added advantage
- Good knowledge
of remote sensing, photogrammetry and related technologies such as Global
Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS)
- Ability to
collect, analyze and appropriately display remotely sensed data
- Proficiency with
various computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft
office, computer assisted drawing (CAD), ILWIS, ERDAS, IDRIS
- Ability to
explain complicated technical concepts in a clear, correct and concise
manner to nontechnical users
- Ability to freely
share information with others and collaborate with a high-performance
multi-disciplinary team
