Islamic Relief is an international
NGO, established in 1984 in the UK; IR seeks to promote sustainable economic
and social development by working with local communities through relief and
development activities.
IRK also implements seasonal food
security programmes including the Ramadan Food Distribution and Qurbani.
Position: Child
Protection Program Officer
Overall Responsibility:
Under the supervision of the Head of
Programmes, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for the
achievement of the project objectives and managing the partnership
relationships with program sub-awardees.
She/he will also offer technical
support to Dadaab and Mandera based Child Welfare teams.
The position will be 80% Nairobi and
20% field based.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall management of the project in line
with the project documents/workplan
- Design overall technical and operational plans for
project ; ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and
donor guidelines
- Concept note/proposal development
- Design and maintain participatory project specific
M&E system/s and monitoring plan/s
- Prepare and submit consistent quality reports
- Undertake collaborative needs assessments and
evaluations
- Manage project cycle for project specific sub-grants
- Develop and/or strengthen linkages with relevant Child
Protection coordination bodies on relevant sector and cross-cutting topics
Experience/qualification
- Preferably a minimum social science degree in a related
discipline; advanced degree would be added advantage
- Proven management of sub-grants
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in child
protection programs; experience with working in urban settlements would be
an added advantage, especially with an international humanitarian NGO
- Experience in project cycle management, proposal, report
writing and excellent computer skills
