The
International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a US government-funded
project that supports the development of HIV/AIDS care and treatment training
initiatives in 25 resource-limited countries acutely impacted by the global
AIDS epidemic.
Mission:
The Kenya office is committed to providing technical assistance and support for
the development of capacity for the use and maintenance of Electronic Health
Information Systems in Kenya.
The office
works in close collaboration with the Kenya Ministry of Health and other
stakeholders with support from PEPFAR through the US Health Resources &
Services Administration (HRSA) and CDC Division of Global HIV/AIDS (DGHA)
Implementation Coordinator
(Based in
Nairobi region)
Position Summary:
The
implementation coordinator will be responsible for the hands-on implementation
of Electronic Medical Record Systems in central region, in collaboration with
the Ministry Of Health and other implementing partners.
Under the
guidance of the Technical Advisor, he/she will be charged with working with MoH
to develop and operationalise the regional support structures for EMR Systems.
Primary
Responsibilities
Liaise with
the implementing partners, regional teams and health facility leadership to
execute the implementation plans developed for EMR systems’ roll out.
Work with
the regional teams and health facilities to identify and understand their
needs.
Administer
the assessment, prioritization and preparation of health facilities.
Administer
the installation of EMR systems at health facility level.
Together
with the Ministry, monitor the implementation plans developed for each region
and health facility and document progress.
Participate
in regional Ministry activities that relate to the use of EMR systems and
related M&E activities.
In
collaboration with the Ministry and Training team, develop and execute plans
for building capacity at facility and regional levels to use and administer EMR
systems.
Develop
additional functionalities required in the EMR systems.
Conduct
system training and provide onsite and remote support and troubleshooting.
Coordinate
communication of user and testing feedback to the development team through
consultation with the Technical Advisor Implementation and interoperability
Skills
& Qualifications
Demonstrated
knowledge of Kenya Health information system
Good
interpersonal and communication skills
Experience
working with MoH or other GoK sector
Ability to
travel nationally
Ability to
manage time well and handle multiple installations simultaneously
Attention
to detail and ability to monitor data and analyze reports
Required
Education, Training & Experience:
Minimum
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information technology
Experience
working with programming languages (especially Java)
Experience
working with SQL Databases
Experience
deploying information systems
Experience
implementing systems in the health sector
Knowledge
of OpenMRS development and implementation
Implementation
Assistants (2) based in North Rift and Nyanza regions.
Position Summary:
The
Implementation Assistant is responsible for the support of EMR implementations
including documentation of facility and regional activities and monitoring of
the implementation processes.
She/he
reports to the implementation coordinator.
In collaboration
with the implementation coordinator, she/he will be working with the MOH and
other identified stakeholder groups.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist the
implementation coordinator to,
Strengthen
use and coordination of Kenya EMR activities
Support the
Ministry to monitor the implementation and use of the Kenya EMR at health
facilities.
Participate
in regional Ministry activities that relate to the use of EMR systems
Strengthen
capacity at facility and regional levels to use and administer the Kenya EMR.
Support the
Implementation Coordinator to conduct system training and provide onsite and
remote support and troubleshooting.
Provide
technical support as necessary to the facilities in conjunction and
consultation with the MOH, Implementation Coordinator and established Help
Desk.
Support
M&E activities relating to implementation of the Kenya EMR
Skills and
Qualifications
Degree in
Information Sciences or a related field.
Demonstrated
competence in information system implementation and monitoring
Relevant training
will be an added advantage
Experience
working in the Kenya health sector will be an added advantage.
