Chief Operations Officer Job in Kenya


Our Client is a representative organization for an integral industry group in Kenya. 

In pursuit of its core mandate of policy advocacy, the organization also promotes trade and investment, upholds standards and encourages the formulation, enactment and administration of sound policies that facilitate a competitive business environment.

The organization is seeking to competitively fill the following key position:

Chief Operations Officer

Deputizing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operations Officer (COO) will be responsible for the organization’s day-to-day operations. 

The COO will also be involved in coordination and direction of research and advocacy work, handling members’ services and core operations including financial and budget oversight.

Key responsibilities:
  • Deputize the CEO in organizational oversight and financial management;
  • Develop, establish and direct the execution of operational policies to support the achievement of the overall company objectives;
  • Provide leadership in the provision of members services;
  • Establish performance goals and targets, allocate resources and assess the performance of senior management;
  • Lead in organizational planning and budgeting;
  • Oversee the organization’s research and advocacy and ensuring it is in line with the organization’s requirements;
  • Represent the organization in relevant meetings and participate in high level policy advocacy; and
  • Spearhead the organization’s fundraising activities.
Person specifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Law, Policy Analysis, Business Studies, Strategic Management or equivalent;
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience, with at least 3 years at senior management level;
  • Solid working knowledge of the regulatory environment for business, policy research and advocacy, business development, membership growth in a business association, budgeting, marketing and strategic planning; and
  • Proven intellectual leadership in developing and managing people as well as managing performance.
