Program Officer(Fulltime)
The Service Delivery Indicator (SDI) project is a Hivos
Initiative funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
Responsibilities
- Carry
out grant making for the SDI project;
- Implementation
of the grant management procedures including monitoring and evaluation of
the impact and outcome of the funding;
- Ensure
high quality and timely reporting;
- Assist
and advise individual partners on organisational and implementation
issues;
- Manage
relationships with a wide range of relevant actors; build and strengthen
networks and partnerships relevant and strategic to the SDI project;
- Support
collaboration between partners and other stakeholders in the area of joint
knowledge development and programme implementation;
- Represent
the SDI project in external meetings, conferences and media interviews;
- Supports
communication of SDI project to actively promote use of the data;
The Program Officer reports to the Fund Manager and to the
Director of Regional office in Nairobi.
Required skills:
- A
Masters degree in media, development or related area;
- Extensive
(at least 5 - 7 years) experience in media and civil society
in the Kenyan context;
- Capacity
to motivate, collaborate and work with a diverse group of people;
- Proven
track record in project management & understanding of budgets;
- Self
motivated and can work simultaneously on a multiple tasks in an organized
and structured manner;
- Articulate
and persuasive speaker with the ability to express themselves simply &
concisely with a diverse audience;
- Strong
communication skills, as well as an excellent command of oral and written
English and Swahili (required); and
- Ability
to work with large data sets (desirable).
