Program Administrator

DKA and eRko support office in nairobi is a local organization charged with the mandate of supporting the work of DKA Austria, and eRko Slovakia in kenya through supporting and building the capacity of the kenyan project partners funded by these two donors.

The support office seeks to fill the position of Program Administrator. Reporting to the Programme Officer Research and Networking, the holder of the position will be responsible for the management of the Volunteer Program as well as provide administrative support to other Programme Officers working for the organization. 

Specific taks for this position include:management and coordination of all activities under the volunteer program and the Hospitality House (Guest House for volunteers), facilitation of inter cultural trainings for volunteers (most of whom are foreign) and local partners, communication with the sending and hosting organizations, conduct research and provide recommendations to the office and project partners.

He/she is also expected to carry out administrative duties including: Coordination of Trainings and Workshops, Report Writing, Filing of of reports, answering phonecalls and emails, coordinating airport pick ups and accomodation bookings for guests and working with the office assistant to ensure managemnet of office is in good order. 

The incumbent will therefore be required to work closely with senior staff in the organization as well as the volunteers and the local partners and as such, must be willing to engage with marginalised communities in the slums and travel to different regions within the country if and when required.

DKA & eRko is seeking applications from candidates who meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
  • Good grasp of European and African cultures
  • Good Command of Microsoft Office Packages
  • 2 years experience in an administrative role (Desirable)
  • Experience in field research and knowledgeable in SPSS or any other research package (Desirable)
  • Experience in working within varied cultural contexts
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on assessment of information available
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Research and report writing skills.
  • Good facilitation skills
  • • High level of integrity and strong character (Highly accommodative and understanding)
