KANCO is a national membership network of organization with over 1000 Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs), Community Based Organization (CBOs), Faith Based Organization (FBOs), Private Sector, Research and Learning Institutions responding to HIV & AIDS and TB in Kenya.
It is also accredited as a Linking Organization with the International HIV & AIDS Alliance.
Its mission is to provide leadership, promote collaboration and enhance capacity among Civil Society organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders to respond to HIV & AIDS and TB at the community level.
KANCO is seeking to employ suitable persons for the VCT counsellor and Nurse Positions;
Job title: VCT Counsellor
Location: Malindi
Availability: Immediately
Job Summary (Purpose of Position)
To provide leadership in the provision of counselling and testing services to injecting drug users and their partners and make appropriate referrals.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
·         Offer Counseling and testing services to clients daily
·         Issue Referral forms where necessary
·         Provision of HIV & AIDS and other related diseases information to the clients
·         Ensure proper relations between organization and the community
·         Adhere to VCT Protocol and ensure all equipment’s are in order at all times
Level of education:
·         O level certificate
·         Diploma in counselling and testing
Special training:
·         Trained VCT counsellor
Other competencies:
·         Strong Leadership skills
·         Competent in broader harm reduction priority issues
·         Ability to work with a cross section of people (location and demographic)
·         Managing a health facility
·         Team player
·         Focused and self-motivated
·         Good communication and interpersonal skills
Job experience
·         At least 3 years relevant experience
·         Salary commensurate with the experience
Job title: Nurse
Location: Malindi
Availability: Immediately
Job Summary (Purpose of Position)
To provide leadership and technical support to the management and running of an IDU drop in centre for the provision of quality harm reduction services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
·         Provide leadership in developing work schedules for the centre to allow for smooth running of client identification registration and service acquisition including referrals.
·         Oversee the day to day management and running of the DIC particularly diagnosis and management of client health conditions.
·         Review, monitor and evaluate the progress and performance of the DIC activities to ensure they meet acceptable performance standards
·          Oversee the preparation of the budgets for specific actions including procurement of commodities (where applicable) under direct supervision by the position.
·         Prepare regular progress management reports
·         Develop appropriate strategies for networking and collaboration with government and non-governmental partners involved in harm reduction initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Level of education:
·         O level certificate
·         Degree in nursing/Public Health or equivalent an added advantage
Special training:
·         Registered health community Nurse
·         Clinical officer
Other competencies:
·         Strong Leadership skills
·         Competent in broader harm reduction priority issues
·         Ability to work with a cross section of people (location and demographic)
