Reports To:   Brand Ambassador - Whiskies
Department:  Marketing Department
Location: HO, Nairobi, Kenya
Hours of Work:  8:30am – 5:00pm with overtime where necessary

The company is primarily focused on premium spirits (the high-margin segment of the industry), and has leading premium brands in all key spirits categories. 

The company seeks to establish itself in East, Central and sub-Saharan Africa with its head office Kenya (Nairobi).
 
Main Purpose of the Job:

The role of the brand ambassador is to conduct the most informative and professional product/brand tasting in Kenya – to the brands high profile connected consumers.

Key Responsibilities 

Network / Recruiting
  • With other participants in the whisky industry, i.e. whisky writers, whisky clubs etc.
  • With the media, and especially influence media writing about whisky (Building interface between media, celebrities).
  • With celebrities from the arts, sports etc.
  • With key corporate
  • With connectors and trend creators (Focus on fashion, design and art)
  • With trendsetters and early adopters
  • Attend brand events / portray brand lifestyle
Training
  • Keep abreast of industry news.
  • Consistently update personal whisky know-how.
  • Train and induct the Sales force and our appointed distributors on the brand he is responsible for.
  • Train and induct 5 star hotels and other high class establishment management and staff
Office Administration
  • Maintain database of all prospects collected from events attended, leads and collecting from premium clubs
  • Maintain database of tasting attendees.
  • Send email invitations.
  • Send SMS reminders.
  • Send thanks for attending notes.
  • Network to achieve direct communication with the target consumers.
Brand Development
  • Build relationships with each target outlet including consumer and trade promotions, bar staff education, negotiation of brand visibility space/opportunities.
  • Recruit & convert Key influencers & target consumers to the brand through trial & brand education
  • Seek relevant opportunities for brand activation – trade associations, relevant events etc.
  • Optimise visibility and identify opportunities (e.g. in-store communication) for the product in the off-trade;  assist sales team with store merchandising, incorporating POS materials etc
  • As the Ambassador, represent the brand to trade & lifestyle press when/where opportunities arise.
  • Provision and presentation of the brand’s best practice to assist in design and implementation of key on/off trade activities to Sales and Marketing team.
  • Highlight & promote the brand’s PR activities to relevant media / press contacts.
  • Identify opportunities in the market suitable for the brand’s involvement
  • identify & target on trade accounts for brand image/development in collaboration with the Trade Marketing Manager.
Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment. 
  • Work will require significant local travel and may require occasional overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work.
  • Must be willing to travel to any part of the country.

Education and Work Experience
  • Undergraduate degree/ higher diploma in a relevant discipline. Sales and Marketing professional qualifications will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 3-5 years work experience in a Sales and Marketing dynamic environment/Hospitality experience managing premium On Trade outlets.
