Regional Program Coordinator

Church World Service (CWS) is the relief, development, and refugee organization representing 36 Orthodox, Anglican, and Protestant Denominations in the USA. 

CWS is looking for an exceptional individual to help empower communities and partners through coordination, facilitation, monitoring, capacity building and training to design, expand and implement effective development programs that will improve the quality of life within communities in a measurable way. 

The emphasis of this position would orient towards OVC and Youth empowerment.
 
Responsibilities:
 
1. Develop, manage, and monitor primarily OVC and Youth Empowerment program activities in accordance with the Regional Strategy Plan.
 
2. Collect, analyze, and disseminate relevant development information, and priorities among CWS Partners, and the Regional Office.
 
3. Research and develop new funding sources
 
4. Develop and expand Peer to Peer learning activities
 
Key Tasks:
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with all CWS Partners in the region.
  • Develop and expand innovative community empowering development activities with an emphasis on OVCs and Youth in the region in accordance with the regional strategy plan.
  • Ensure that programs/projects are catalytic or have a multiplier effect for greater change.
  • Ensure that gender, HIV/AIDS, environmental, and other cross-cutting issues are addressed in program design and implementation.
  • Provide guidance and input in Regional Strategy Plan updates.
  • Develop guidelines and monitoring tools to ensure efficient implementation of programs/projects and demonstrate measurable improvement in the quality of life within the program area.
  • Develop and maintain program/project tracking file for all CWS projects
  • Identify and explore new funding opportunities to expand program/project activities in the Eastern Africa Region.
  • Provide the necessary space for partners to learn and understand from each other through Peer to Peer Learning.
  • Promote the positive image of CWS, ensuring visibility and recognition among relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned to enhance an efficient and effective delivery of services and support to our partners.
Education: University Graduate
 
Professional Qualifications:
  • Five years development experience within the NGO community.
  • Understanding and knowledge of various Donor’s project proposal and reporting formats.
  • Able to manage a diverse workload with competing priorities
  • Computer literate and skilled in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain high performance standards with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultured environment.
  • Experience in managing/coordinating OVC and Youth projects/programs is an added advantage.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner and represent a positive image of CWS.
