The Academic Model Providing Access to Health Care (AMPATH) is a program under the auspices of Moi University School of Medicine and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) whose aim is to provide sustainable efforts in access to health care. 

In addition to the MTRH site, AMPATH also supports the Ministry of Health in eight districts in Rift Valley, one district in Nyanza and 11 in Western Province. 

AMPATH wishes to fill the following positions:-

Research Data Manager – (1 Post)
 
The Role
  • Liaise with the Clinicians and the Biostatisticians in retrieving data and organizing data for various research questions from the databases.
  • Ensure quality data for analysis by cleaning research data retrieved from the databases.
Qualification and Experience
  • Must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics or Mathematics or a related field from a reputable university. Masters in Statistics or Mathematics will be an added advantage
  • Must possess statistical and computer experience of more than 1 year.
  • Must be proficient in statistical software e.g. SAS, SPSS, STATA, S-Plus/R, EpiInfo and spreadsheets.
  • Must be proficient in data analysis, interpretation and manipulation of data, have knowledge of database management and retrieval methods.
Biostatistician - (1 Post)
 
The Role
  • Advise on appropriate statistical techniques.
  • Analyze data using appropriate Software and Methods.
  • Advise and perform appropriate queries from the database and assist in development of associated databases.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Masters degree required, preferably in Biostatistics or Statistics.
  • A basic degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Environmental Health, Economics, or any other related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical software e.g. SAS, SPSS, STATA, epi-info., Spreadsheets and one or more years’ experience with analysis of complex datasets highly desirable.
Systems Engineer/ Java Programmer - (1 Post)
 
The Role
  • Design, develop and modify java-based applications.
  • Design and create mobile health programs primarily using the Android framework.
  • Design and create java programs, and develop applications on top of OpenMRS (www.openmrs.org) software.
Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/ Computer Science or related field.
  • Be in possession of a minimum of at least one year of related work experience in Information Systems or programming.
  • Experience with OpenMRS development (www.openmrs.org), including at least one patch successfully reviewed and applied to OpenMRS core code will be an added advantage.
Terms of Employment
 
Successful candidates will be employed on a 1-year renewable contract basis with competitive salary and allowances.
