About
The Position:
Reporting
to the Chief Executive, the Human Resources Manager will hold a critical
leadership role in the organization.
They
will manage all HR policies, and create and manage a streamlined system for
managing our current employees, turnover, and future employees, in a rapidly
growing organization.
This
is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished human resources leader, with a
deep understanding and track record of managing HR strategy and operations, who
will play a pivotal role in Nuru’s next phase of development.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible
to CEO
- Responsible
for ensuring employees are treated fairly according to employment law and
Nuru regulations, and that all policies, regulations, and conduct are
aligned with the employment laws of the country and Nuru policies, and for
advising the CEO and Nuru International staff accordingly.
- Manage
payroll and external fees compliance.
- Operating
the hiring and onboarding programmes for all of Nuru’s departments.
- Advising
relevant staff on disciplinary actions and terminations, where needed.
- Managing
terminations and redundancies, as required.
- Managing
payscale changes as advised.
- Managing
the performance tracking and professional development systems for all
employees.
- Manage
all employee benefits.
- Manage
all employee records.
- Manage
all payroll deductions (statutory and otherwise).
- Manage,
and update regularly, all HR policies, including the HR manual,
transportation policies, etc.
- Manage
compound (office) security and associated staff and contractors.
- Manage
HR clerk(s).
Candidate Requirements:
- Passion
for Nuru International Kenya’s mission and model.
- At
least 3-5 years of work experience including management experience in an
HR department, preferably within an NGO.
- Degree
in Human Resources Management, or equivalent.
- Advanced
knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated
knowledge of relevant Kenyan law.
- Demonstrated
strong leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional
strategic problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability
to manage the entrepreneurial challenges of a young organization including
partnership creation and the development of systems and procedures that
ensure a high degree of accountability and transparency.
- Excellent
and demonstrated capacity to work as a part of a cohesive team.
- Extreme

Reporting
to the Finance Manager, the Chief Accountant will hold a critical role in the
organization.
He/she
will successfully manage the day-to-day finances and record-keeping processes
of a large and rapidly growing organization.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished accountant, with a deep understanding and track record of managing accounts, who will play a pivotal role in Nuru’s next phase of development.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible
for development and implementation of accounting systems and procedures.
- Control
of receipt books and other accounting documents such as cheque books,
local purchase orders, requisition forms, etc.
- Custodian
of cash boxes, stores and other accounting documents.
- Carrying
out inspections occasionally and making reports to the Finance Manager.
- Attending
to physical stock take, and managing inventories and asset tracking.
- Preparation
of monthly statements of affairs, income and expenditure accounts
- Liaising
with bank on any debits and credits which may appear to be incoherent,
initiating necessary corrections and collecting paid up cheque, and that
enough cash is maintained to meet daily payments.
- Passing
journal entries in ledgers
- Any
other duty as may be assigned by the Finance Manager.
- Manage
efficient budgeting process.
- Manage
weekly and monthly cash management processes.
- Manage
semi-annual audits, generation of financial statements, and timely
submission of legally required filings.
- Manage
account clerks and other clerks.
Candidate Requirements:
- Passion
for Nuru International Kenya’s mission and model.
- University
degree such as B.Com (Accounting), Business Administration OR equivalent.
- Full
professional accounting qualification: CPA (K), ACCA, ACA.
- Minimum
of 5 years accounting experience, preferably within the NGO sector.
- At
least 2 years of experience as a Chief Accountant, or accountant of
similar responsibility.
- Mastery
of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
- Mastery
of Quickbooks.
- Proven
knowledge and experience in business planning and management.
- Proven
knowledge and experience in Companies Act and statutory tax regulations.
- High
degree of maturity, integrity and professionalism.
- Extreme
flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to
accommodate high level of responsibility and multiple priorities.
- Articulate,

- Fluency

Position: Accounts Clerk at Nuru International Kenya

The Position:
The
Accounts Clerk will report to the Chief Accountant who assigns them duties
based on available work load.
These
responsibilities will largely revolve around the day-to-day management of the
organisation’s books, accounting and cash/expense management systems.
Responsibilities
shall include:
- To
ensure received cash is banked intact
- To
check cash received against official receipt
- To
verify the accuracy of cash received for goods or services received or
rendered
- Preparing
the bank reconciliation
- Keeping
and maintaining the cash books
- To
ensure that bank statements and direct credit slips are received from the
bank on time
- Ensure
prompt issue of receipts in respect of direct credit slips
- Follow
up returned cheques
- To
ensure proper posting and keeping of books of account
- Ensure
prompt posting of the ledger books
- To
extract monthly trial balance
- Prepare
statement of income and expenditure
- Prepare
monthly reports on the position of the ledger books
- Deal
with all matters emanating from record keeping
- Any
other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Accountant
Candidate Requirements:
- Passion

- At
least 2+ years of work experience in accounts, preferably within an NGO
- CPA
II (Section 3 &4) or equivalent
- Working
knowledge of Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Articulate,
professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative.
- Literacy
and fluency in English and Ki-Swahili required; fluency in Ki-kurian
preferred but not required.
