Job Title: Mission Pharmacist

Duration: Fixed term contract, extendable

Background of the Position:
 
Medecins Sans Frontieres Belgium is looking to fill the position of a Mission Pharmacist for our Kenya mission, based in Nairobi County. 

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Medical Coordinator and shall be responsible for all areas / related to good pharmacy management for MSF Belgium Kenya Mission.
 
Objective of the Position:
  • Management of drug orders (preparing, receiving, stocking, dispatching) is done according to MSF procedures and International regulations
  • Quality drugs and medical supplies to the projects, managing of stocks, orders and movements is followed and provided efficiently
  • Providing technical support/ training to other pharmacy staff in areas such as rational drug use and drug pharmaceutical changes
Tasks & Responsibilities:
 
S/he will perform the following main tasks, among others:-
  • Management of drug orders for the mission/project(s), (receiving, preparing, stocking, packaging, delivery)
  • Ensure availability and/or refill of the medical drugs and/or medical/lab supplies & equipments as per the system/requirement in place
  • Inventory management of medical drugs and/or medical/lab supplies and equipments
  • Updating, implementing and safe guarding of MSF-Belgium pharmacy protocols and guidelines
  • Technical support, training and supervision to the pharmacies/pharmacy attendants in the project(s)
  • Management of the pharmacy stock and database
  • Pharmacy related data analysis and reporting
Qualifications & Requirements:
 
Education: Degree in Pharmacy - registered with the Pharmacy & Poisons Board
 
Experience: Minimum 3 years professional experience in a similar position. NGO experience is an added advantage.
 
Skills:
  • Computer literate; good communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
  • Strong technical, management and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility, motivated, autonomous, proactive, patient, discreet, open minded
  • Strong sense of confidentiality, team spirit and dynamism
Language: Proficiency in written and oral English & Kiswahili.
