Overview:
Nuru Kenya is looking for a highly qualified candidate to fill
the position of District Manager (DM) in the Leadership program.
The position may be staffed internally from Nuru Kenya staff or
externally, as determined by the Leadership Program Manager, and in
coordination with the Chairman of Nuru Kenya.
Contract specifications will be in accordance with those established in the employment contract.

Responsibilities:
- Successfully
manage the Leadership program by making strategic decisions to help the
program grow
- Develop
high level program strategy including, but not limited to: curriculum
development, facilitation training for staff, leadership development, and
staffing
- Accomplish
the goals of Nuru Kenya and the Leadership program in a sustainable and
scalable way
- Create
and manage yearly roll out plans and oversee weekly planning for
leadership staff
- Coordinate
with all other Nuru Kenya programs to create training schedules
- Manage
the Zonal Managers and oversee the success and management of their teams
- Update
the Leadership logic model to meet current needs and evaluate program
activities in order to ensure Leadership’s interventions are meeting
programmatic impact goals
- Coordinate
the development and implementation of scaling the program
- Create
and maintain the budget for Nuru Leadership
- Represent
Nuru Kenya/Leadership to the general public and government
- Set
and achieve short and long term goals related to the program
- Mentor
Leadership staff and facilitate professional development for the team,
focusing on management capacity, facilitation skills, and curriculum
development
If the District Manager is staffed by a current Nuru Kenya staff
member, the candidate must:
- Demonstrate
an ability to achieve all of the above job functions during a trial
period, after which an evaluation will be made to determine effectiveness
- Submit
to a trial period with no promise of continued employment in the DM
capacity if unable to demonstrate the ability to achieve job
responsibilities
Qualifications and competencies:
- At
least two years of experience working in a leadership position (eg:
education, counseling)
- Demonstrated
experience writing and teaching curriculum for adult learners
- Preferably
a university degree from an accredited higher institution in education,
international development, project management, or other related area
- Excellent
communication skills
- Demonstrated
ability to competently manage a staff of 30+
- Skilled
in budgeting and planning under tight deadlines
- Strong
problem solving skills
- Speak
fluent English (mandatory), Kiswahili (mandatory), and Kikurian
(preferred)
- Possess
intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, E-mail, etc.)
- Demonstrated
ability to operate in both office and field setting
- Demonstrated
ability to form successful working relationships with subordinates and
peers
- Ability
to use data from the Monitoring and Evaluation department to make
appropriate programmatic decisions
- Demonstrated
responsibility in managing and tracking complex budget expenditures
- Long-term
commitment to ending extreme poverty in rural areas of Kenya
