Consultant - Research Management / Coffee Breeding Experience


A consultancy firm, based in Nairobi has been contracted to review and develop a strategic action plan and business plan for agricultural corporations in the region,  is  looking to engage the services of a consultant  or key expert in the agriculture industry  in a short term ( 60 man days contract). 

The incumbent must have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, crop (coffee breeding) science, or related discipline with a bias in research management. 

Prior experience in the coffee research sector is desirable.  

Experience in policy formulation would be an added advantage.

Your responsibilities shall include:           

1. Engage stakeholders to develop, review  and  update  strategic action plan for an agricultural corporation  and focus on technology transfer priorities, financial forecasts with respect to the costs generated by the organisations activities, revenues collected, etc.

2. To identify possible adjustments on costs and revenues that are necessary to guarantee financial sustainability in the medium and the long term and determine the risks that are associated with different scenarios (risk analysis) and recommend financial options.

3. Develop strategic business plan for the corporation

4. Propose and develop budgets that are aligned to the strategic plan. Establish current comprehensive cost structure.

5. Prepare gap analysis showing how existing programs will contribute to goals and targets of agriculture sector in the beneficiary states.

6. You will develop acceptable methodology and the timetable for delivering the outputs specified in a fixed time of up to  60 person days.

7. Organisation and facilitation of stakeholder workshops during the project to ensure all inputs from stakeholders are considered and included in the plan.

8. Preparation of comprehensive reports that will include annual action plans and budgets and elaboration of likely scenarios for future developments regarding cost and revenues.

Your work will involve travelling in the East African region when required.

Note: The appointment will be a Short Term Consultant contract initially for a maximum of 60 days.
