USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program
 
The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia. The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials. TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.

The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Information Technology (IT) Assistant. 

As our IT Assistant you will provide a range of IT support services in our Nairobi office on a regular basis. 

As the Assistant you will work closely with the IT Manager on all aspects of staff computer support including but not limited to. 

This position requires travel to Somalia.

Qualifications and skills sought:
  • Diploma in information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Working knowledge in using Microsoft office required
  • PC and server support experience, especially with Windows Server and Windows Client Operation Systems.
  • Experience of basic knowledge of Lotus Notes Client Administration, and replication within a WAN.
  • Computer repairs, assembly and technical troubleshooting.
  • Good Knowledge of computer hardware and software theory.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Lotus Notes, Windows operating systems.
  • Industry standard certification by Microsoft or Cisco preferred.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
  • Honesty, confidentiality and integrity required.
  • Cultural Sensitivity.
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines.
  • Competency in performing multiple functional tasks.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • English language fluency required and Somali Language fluency preferred.

The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Human Resources/Administration Officer. 

As our HR/Admin Officer you will be responsible for HR and Admin functions and administrative matters from the Nairobi Office. 

The Officer will be given a portfolio of offices to support in the field and will cover for the HR/Office Manager when he/she is out of the office 

The Officer’s main function would be human resource management and he/she will also be responsible for managing procurement of office supplies, day to day operations and supporting operations as a whole. 

This position will require some knowledge of Somali culture; the Kenyan and Somali labor laws, highly developed collaboration and networking skills and the exercise of discretion, judgment, and personal responsibility.

Qualifications and skills sought:
  • Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources or any other relevant field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in write English and a second national language is preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Working knowledge in using Microsoft office required.
  • Honesty, confidentiality and integrity required.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines.
  • Competency in performing multiple functional tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Somali and English language fluency required.
  • Interest and availability to travel throughout Somalia.
