Our client, The Research Care and Training Program (RCTP), is a unit within the Center for Microbiology Research at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).

RCTP was established in 1994 with the goal of conducting research, providing care as well as creating and supporting treatment. 

Its emphasis is on infectious diseases with a bias towards sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/Aids. 

RCTP has offices in Nairobi, Kisumu East, Suba, Migori, Rongo and Nyatike. 

RCTP is now seeking to recruit motivated and proactive individuals to fill three management positions. 

These are Finance and Administration Manager, Human Resources Manager and Head of Procurement.

The Finance and Administration Manager (ESS 482)

Reporting to the Co-Directors KEMRI/RCTP, the Finance and Administration Manager will be overall in charge of the financial and administrative function of KEMRI/RCTP, working in close collaboration with project managers and program staff. 

The jobholder will provide technical and management oversight for budget development and budget compliance, human resource, project operations, procurement, grants management, financial reporting and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

The job holder will also be responsible for audit preparations.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognised University. A Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance or Accounting will be an added advantage;
  • CPA(K) or ACCA finalist qualification and membership of a professional body;
  • At least 10 years working experience with progressive levels of responsibility in donor funded organisations; three years ofwhich should be in a management position;
  • Working knowledge of computerised accounting and other computer application packages;
  • Experience in budgeting, budget monitoring and financial reporting to various stakeholders; and
  • Experience in overseeing management of human resources, procurement and general administrative functions.
Human Resources Manager (ESS 483)

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies, policies and programs.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • A Bachelors Degree in a relevant field and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management. A Masters Degree in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage;
  • At least eight years experience with a minimum of five years in Human Capital Management;
  • Membership of a recognised human resource professional body;
  • Broad knowledge of labour laws, compensation, benefits administration, organisational planning and development, employee relations, performance management, staff training and development;
  • Experience in coaching, counselling and mentoring staff; and
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills coupled with exceptional planning and organisation skills.
Head of Procurement (ESS 484)

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Head of procurement will be responsible for implementing supply chain policies and procedures and ensuring effective and efficient procurement of goods, works and services.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • A Bachelors degree in Commerce, Economics or Supplies Management from a recognised University or A Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline as well as a
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management. A relevant Masters Degree will be an added advantage;
  • At least eight years experience in a relevant field; two ofwhich must be in a senior position in a procurement or supply chain related role;
  • Registered member of the Kenya Institute of Supply Management (KISM) or Chartered Institute ofPurchasing and Supply (CIPS).
  • Excellent knowledge of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005 and the Regulations, 2006;
  • High level of integrity with excellent negotiation, record keeping, analytical and report writing skills; and
  • Demonstrated outstanding professional competence as reflected in work relatedperformance and  results.
