Waumini Communications Limited, the holding company for
communications and media projects of the Catholic Church in Kenya, is looking
for highly motivated individuals to fill the following positions:
1. Station Manager (Radio Waumini)
The position is based in Nairobi. Reporting to the Managing Director, Waumini Communications Limited, the Station Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Radio Waumini, leading a skilled team of professionals to ensure they meet the key objectives of the station in terms of output, audience, and revenue generation.

Qualifications, skills and experience
- A
bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism from a
recognised university.
- A
post-graduate degree in Communications, PR or Journalism will be an added
advantage
- Over
three years experience in a busy media organization, most preferably in a
management role at a radio or TV station
Key Competencies
- Ability
to generate original ideas and to think creatively about how to
communicate them
- Knowledge
of the radio market in Kenya, different station and programme styles, and
audience demographics
- Sound
editorial judgement
- The
capacity to work effectively under pressure, react quickly and meet tight
deadlines, with minimum supervision
- A
facility for managing creative teams, and encouraging acceptable creative
risk taking
- Ability
to mentor and to develop talent in others
- Ability
to deal effectively with team members of differing temperaments and morale
- Self-motivation
and adaptability
- A
thorough knowledge of the Laws of Kenya, media ethics and industry
regulation as they affect radio production and broadcasting
- Knowledge
on how to acquire the relevant broadcasting clearances and licenses,
including copyright and music clearances
- A
good knowledge of Social Teaching of the Church, and Ethical Principles
- Applicants
must be between 30-50 years of age.

3. Head of Marketing and Promotions - Waumini Communications
This is a key leadership position for Waumini Communications Limited.
This is a key leadership position for Waumini Communications Limited.
The Head of Marketing and Promotions will provide visionary
leadership and direction in positioning Waumini Communications Limited’s
cluster of Radio stations, a national newspaper and Video Production/TV Unit as
leading brands in a highly competitive market in Kenya.
Specifically, the person will be tasked with the responsibility
of formulating and implementing a Marketing Strategy for the company, its
subsidiaries, newspaper, radio and Video/TV brands, and the control of the
marketing department to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning,
building, coordinating and managing a team of Business Executives who are
expected to deliver agreed sales volumes and revenue
- Developing
and implementing a clear, innovative and creative marketing and sales
strategy
- Developing
and implementing sales strategies and campaigns; and maintaining and
fostering business relationships with all clients of the company.
- Establishing
a culture that is continually testing new concepts for sales and marketing
in a rapid way
- Managing
Waumini Communication’s online presence and advertising
- Collecting
feedback from customers, encouraging them to invite others, and ensuring
high levels of customer satisfaction
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's
Degree in Marketing from a recognised university; an MBA will be an added
advantage
- At
least 3 years of work experience in sales, marketing or business
development, with a preference for experience managing a marketing team
- Hands-on
approach to getting things done
- Strong
work ethic and understanding of the Social Teaching of the Catholic Church
- Ability
to manage multiple tasks with a high level of independence
- Must
be able to design and execute partnership agreements, presentations,
proposals, etc.
- Excellent
verbal and written communications skills in English and Swahili
4. Marketing Officer, National Mirror
The Marketing Officer will be responsible for managing and executing all marketing, sales and distribution initiatives for the National Mirror Newspaper which has a countrywide circulation.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Development
of an overall sales and marketing strategy for the National Mirror
- Coordination
of advertising, subscriptions and sales for the National Mirror
- Development
of a countrywide circulation/distribution network for the National Mirror
Qualifications/required skills/experience
- A
bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing from a recognised university
- At
least two years’ experience in sales and marketing in a busy media
organisation
- Demonstrate
sound understanding of the principles of sales and marketing
- Demonstrate
a strong understanding of new technologies and how they can be applied to
enhance sales and marketing.
- Ability
to manage a marketing campaign budget
- Must
show creativity and innovativeness
- Is
self-motivated and able to manage sales and marketing campaigns with
minimum supervision
- Must
be a good communicator who provides clear, concise written/verbal
communications appropriate to the audience.
