Database Administrator

Job Profile
 
Database Infrastructure Support
  • Administer and maintain the organization’s DBMS
  • Install and upgrade the DBMS as required
  • Monitor and optimize the DBMS
  • Perform backup and recovery of all DBMS databases
  • Manage the database users
  • Take appropriate measures to ensure the security of the DBMS data
  • Perform all system maintenance for the DBMS
  • Install and support primary client programs connecting to the DBMS
Data Processing & Analysis
  • Ensure the quality of data from members uploaded to the Integrated Motor Insurance Data System (IMIDS) is correct
  • Develop standardized programming and data documentation procedures relevant to the IMIDS
  • Train and supervise others in specific data processing and design tasks
Data Confidentiality & Security
  • Develop policies to ensure security and confidentiality of the Members’ data
  • Monitor IMIDS compliance with confidentiality policies to assure that security standards are met.
Person Profile
  • University degree (preferably B.Sc. computer science or B.Sc Information Technology).
  • At least 5 years proven working experience with Microsoft Windows 2003/8 server administration.
  • Proven DBA experience including OLTP, overnight batch processing and backup requirements.
  • DBA qualifications - good knowledge of MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008.
  • Proven knowledge of ICT/ ITIL practices and processes conducted in support of production service deliveries.
  • Understanding of COM+ and IIS.
  • Proven knowledge of server hardware, EMC RAID arrays, and SAN storage and backup technology and concepts.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft office 2010.
  • Effective interpersonal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a deadline oriented environment.
Network Administrator

User Support
  • User creation and maintenance
  • Helpdesk and support and database systems as well as liaise and support the members of Integrated Motor Insurance Data System (IMIDS)
  • Ensure server up time and updates
  • Design and generate reports
  • Ensure IMIDS uptime
  • Check data quality and liaise with members to ensure clean and updated data is sent to the IMIDS
Networking
  • Network monitoring and trouble shooting
  • Monitor and report on the connectivity to users
  • Managing the network devices.
System Confidentiality & Security
  • Operating system monitoring and patching
  • Monitor the system performance
  • Set up security policies for users
Person Profile
  • University degree (preferably B.Sc. computer science or B.Sc Information Technology).
  • At least 5 years proven working experience with Microsoft Windows 2003/8 server administration.
  • Working knowledge of server hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems.
  • Effective interpersonal communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Track record of reliable and consistent performance
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack, including DHCP and DNS.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) highly desirable.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) highly desirable.
  • CCNA and N++ certification.
