Corporate Relationship Managers

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Unit Head, Corporate Banking and Trade Finance , the job-holder will be responsible for liaison between corporate customers and the Bank, to market for business from Large Corporates and Medium Corporate and ensure growth in the designated portfolio in order to maximize the Bank’s revenue.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be the principal point of contact for the Bank’s relationship with a designated portfolio of corporate customers.
  • To develop business and ensure that there is increased earnings, facility utilization and usage of all Bank’s products
  • To ensure that customer relations are maintained well to facilitate growth in the number of customers, reduce complaints and also retain the existing customers
  • To maintain a good loan book and ensure profits are increased, accounts out of order are reduced and downgrading/provisions are reduced
  • To be the principal point contact for the Bank’s relationship with a designated portfolio of corporate customers and non-customers.
  • To market for corporate business for the bank
  • To ensure quality service delivery to corporate customers to achieve agreed service levels
  • Ensure preparation and maintenance of appropriate reports.
  • Grow Bank revenues while increasing approved facility utilization
  • Preparation of   loan proposals for sanctioning
Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelors degree in a business-related field from a recognized university.
  • AKIB/ACIB/MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Relationship Management and at least 2 years’ experience in credit and a proven record of successfully managing and growing a portfolio of corporate banking clients.
  • Formal training in Lending/Relationship Management
  • Personal Attributes & Skills required in undertaking the role:
  • Should have sound knowledge of bank operations and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to make prompt decisions and be independent in problem-solving
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, be open-minded and have the ability to identify alternative solutions
  • Should possess risk and financial analysis skills
  • A good knowledge of trade finance products
Relationship Manager - Liabilities

Job Summary


Reporting to a Head of Department within Corporate & Institutional Banking Division, the job-holder will market for corporate liability accounts in the public, private, institutional and civil society sectors and ensure retention and effective business growth through impeccable relationship management. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Increase the bank’s visibility in the three sectors through aggressive calling programmes, quality proposals, outstanding presentations and active participation in sector forums and activities
  • Grow cheap and stable deposits as well as quality collection accounts from cash-rich   organisations
  • Cross-sell other products of the bank to the managed relationships so as to gain full control of clients’ business wallet  for maximised return to the bank and value-adding solutions to the customer
  • Employ proactive relationship management and effective customer service for full retention of existing client business
  • Develop customised and innovative products for particular customer segments that meet and exceed customer expectations /needs while maximising the Bank’s profitability
  • Keep constant close touch with the clients, key business influencers in the market and relevant Government Ministries to keep abreast of developments in the market.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
  • AKIB/ACIB/MBA will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of four (4) years experience preferably in a sales function
  • Formal training in lending/relationship management

Head, Treasury Sales and Marketing

The successful person will report directly to the Treasurer.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Treasurer, the job-holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of the unit strategies aimed at efficient as well as effective delivery of the full range of treasury products including foreign exchange, fixed income, corporate services and off balance sheet products to corporate clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, enhance and implement the treasury sales plan covering all treasury products and customer segments.
  • To ensure high quality of treasury products and customer segments.
  • Deliver market information and insight to customers via daily newsletter delivered by email, fax and internet
  • Actively contribute to improvements in quality/efficiency of treasury products delivery process
  • Actively support product development and sales initiatives by Relationship Managers in Corporate & Institutional Banking Division.
  • Keeping customers informed on what is happening in the market and concluding deals within limits approved
  • Enlarge customer base by acquisition of new business in forex trading as well as maintain existing client relationships through effective daily client calls and frequent visits
  • Build a network of relationships across all economic sectors, and of necessity with non Co-operative Bank Ltd customers and other Bank Dealers.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field, with a strong financial management background.
  • ACI Dealing Certificate
  • An MBA will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of 7 years Treasury experience most of which must be in Forex trading and Money Markets and at least two at decision making level
  • Thorough understanding of Dealing platforms and information systems

  • Strong marketing, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Pleasant with an outgoing personality
  • Thorough knowledge of end-to-end process of treasury products and services
  • Exposure to direct FX/MM trading and back-office treasury operations
  • Good understanding of the CBK and Banking Acts and their implications on the organization
  • A detailed knowledge of forex and money market products
