The Kenya Section of the International Commission of Jurists
 
Established in 1959, the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ Kenya) is a non governmental, non – partisan, not for profit making, membership organisation registered in Kenya. 

With a membership drawn from the Bar as well as the Bench, it is a National Section of the International Commission of Jurists based in Geneva. 

It is however autonomous from the ICJ Geneva. 

The primary Mission of the organisation is to promote and protect human rights, democracy and the rule of law nationally and regionally. 

Nationally the organisation has distinguished itself with its consistent tract record of well-informed advocacy and leadership and is today widely acknowledged as a premier human rights organisation in Kenya.
 
ICJ Kenya seeks to fill the vacancies as detailed below and hereby invites suitably qualified Kenyans to apply.
 
Two Positions: Assistant Programme Officers
 
Overall purpose of the positions
 
To provide programmatic and administrative assistance to the programme management teams in the
implementation, management and coordination of programmatic activities.
 
Duties:
  • To work in a team in the developing Project ideas and Project Proposals
  • To support the management and coordination of the implementation of Programme activities.
  • To liaise with the Programme team in the implementation of organisation’s strategic plan.
  • To assist in the preparation of the periodic project reports for internal and external use.
  • To assist in networking within the programme in furtherance of ICJ’s mandate
  • To assist in knowledge creation and management
  • To oversee the development of communication materials and publications
  • To assist in monitoring and evaluation of programmatic activities
Job requirements and qualification
  • Two years experience in programme management and implementation
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Ability to determine priorities.
  • Candidates interested in applying for the position must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and must have worked in the NGO Sector for 2 years. 
  • Must possess excellent writing and communication skills.
