SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is an affiliate of SOS CV- International whose mission is to build families for
children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities. 

In Kenya, the organisation runs five Children’s Villages in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Meru and Kisumu and an Emergency Relief Program in Marsabit. 

SOS Children’s Villages Kenya provides infrastructure in terms of education and health and families strengthening programs for families living in the local communities.

SOS CV KE seeks to recruit self-motivated, dynamic and results driven individuals in the following position:
 
Fund Development and Communication Manager
 
Main tasks for a person holding this position include but not limited to:
  • Develop, implement and evaluate the fundraising strategy
  • Coordinate the activities of fundraising.
  • Develop and implement a public relations and media strategy for SOS CV KE, ensuring that all our communication is consistent, based on the same global brand framework.
  • Coordinate the local child sponsorship programme and activities and ensure smooth correspondence to international sponsors.
  • Develop, approach and maintain appropriate relations with potential donor companies, firms, organisations, foundations, civil societies and the government for assistance, as well as media outlets and individuals in writing, sending proposals and funding applications as required ensuring adequate follow ups.
Job specifications
  • A degree in Social Sciences or communication, Master’s Degree shall be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years demonstrable experience in the conceptualisation, development and implementation of fundraising programmes;
  • Strong marketing and public relations experience;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, fundraising and networking skills.
  • Computer literacy including working with all MS office applications is a must. Experience in design and desktop publishing is an added advantage.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
  • Smart negotiation skills with proven ability to develop and strengthen relationships with organisations and a wide range of individuals. Solid experience in establishment of high level contacts would be essential for this position.
National Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) Manager
 
The National FSP Manager main tasks include but not limited to;-
  • Overall coordination and management of the SOS Family Strengthening Programs in Kenya and assets therein.
  • Planning and budgeting for project activities.
  • Project proposal writing and sourcing of donor funding.
  • Coordinating and ensuring compliance with donors and line Ministry guidelines.
  • Coordinating the administration and operations of the FSP and related facilities.
  • Providing necessary support to the staff, the community representatives and donors.
Job specifications
  • A degree in Social Sciences. Master’s Degree shall be an added advantage.
  • Good communication, facilitation, proposal and report writing skills
  • Strong background in community mobilization
  • Over 8 years’ practical experience in management of programmes and preferably in the NGO sector
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
Program Officer – Advocacy
 
Main tasks for a person holding this position include but not limited to:
  • To design and deliver the organization’s core advocacy messages to Kenya’s decision and opinion makers
  • To monitor current debates in Kenya, United Nations and other international organizations forums on child rights and development, and identify opportunities to shape these policies
  • To develop and maintain a national legal and political analysis
  • To build and maintain contacts with relevant NGO networks working on child rights and protection to ensure the inclusion of the organization’s key messages into policy documents.
  • To build and maintain contacts with relevant media personnel and houses to increase the organizations profile in the media and draw attention to child rights violations, and practical proposals to address them
  • Develop, implement and evaluate different kinds of advocacy work
  • Regularly conduct internal and external analysis on the situation of children’s rights in the country
Job specifications
  • A degree in social sciences or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in a social work/senior administrative position.
  • Excellent computer & communication skills
  • Experience in financial management, conducting baseline surveys, monitoring & evaluation will be an added advantage
  • Report & Proposal writing skills
  • Significant knowledge of how the civil society works in Kenya
  • A demonstrated understanding of the Child Rights issues in Kenya.
Administration Officer
 
The Administration officer’s main tasks include:
  • In charge providing administrative support to the all the facilities in the organization.
  • S/he exercises a high degree of discretion and initiative, while supporting the smooth running of the national office to maintain high a standard of communication within the office, and exceptional quality control of all office activities
  • Procurement and management of assets and materials.
  • Managing the SOS CV KE fleet of vehicles
Job specifications
 
The ideal candidate should have, as a minimum:
  • A degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in an administrative position.
  • Excellent computer & communication skills
  • Experience in financial management
  • Excellent report writing skills
