Officer – Maternal and Child Health (iCCM)

Overall Purpose
Responsible to the Branch Coordinator in providing technical
leadership to the field level, day-to-day implementation of to the MCH
project.
Oversee the implementation of the MCH Project initiatives by
CHW’s and the partners MoPHS and ACTED to improve the accessibility,
utilization and quality of maternal and child health services
Duties & responsibilities
- Provide
technical support and supervision to project assistants of the MCH (iCCM)
project.
- Coordinate
capacity building of MoPHS health workers as CHEWs at project supported
health facilities through training on Community strategy and iCCM related
trainings.
- Coordinate
capacity building of CHW’s health workers at project supported health
facilities through training on Community strategy and iCCM related
trainings.
- Support
health data management at the District Health Office and the project
supported facilities.
- Support
all community-based activities including outreaches, Community
Conversations (CC) sessions and Mobile clinics, and encourage community
participation in monitoring and demanding for quality health services.
- Coordinate
and conduct monthly and quarterly coordination meetings by and with CHW’s
and DHMT meetings on iCCM and other aspects relating to the project.
- Contribute
to documentation of the project lessons to enable learning from the
action.
- Network
and colaborate with the existing partners on the ground
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc
in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Environmental Health or equivalent
qualifications.
- Indepth
experience and understanding of Infant, young child and maternal health
interventions in rural areas.
- At
least three years field experience, preferably with an NGO and or MoH.
Key Competences
- A
broad range experience of health services support services including
logistics, financial management among others
- Strong
background in training and capacity building.
- Ability
to find solutions to complex problems in a challenging environment.
- Strong
computer skills particularly Microsoft Office and data analysis packages.
- Experience
working in drug/commodity supply management.
Position Title: Project Assistant
– Nutrition (iCCM)
Reporting to: Project
Officer
Job location: West
Pokot - Sigor
Overall Purpose
To provide technical support to the project officer on nutrition
aspects of the Maternal Child Health project, overseeing implementation of the
high impact nutrition interventions supported by MoPHS in the project area, as
well as working closely with ACTED disaster risk reduction project.
Duties & responsibilities
- Provide
technical support to health workers and Red Cross volunteers through joint
trainings with DNO, and other stakeholders on high impact nutrition
interventions being implemented by the MoPHS in accordance with GOK
requirements.
- Coordinate
with the MoPHS ( DNO) , Nutrition support officer - UNICEF and other CP
nutritionists in managing and undertaking nutrition surveillance, active
screening and referral systems for children under 5, pregnant and
lactating women
- In
close collaboration with ACTED project team, MoPHS, Nutrition support
officer - UNICEF and other CP nutritionists, identify nutrition education
needs of the community and staff aimed at promoting application of good
nutritional practices
- Collaborate
with key opinion leaders, MoPHS and other stakeholders to support local
leadership and communities in identifying nutrition ambassadors who are
champions in promoting and applying good nutrition practices in their
households.
- Provide
on the job support supervision and mentor the project staff on nutrition
aspects of the project with a view of creating and sustaining capacity on
nutrition.
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc.
in Nutrition (preferred) or higher diploma with three a minimum of three
years’ experience
- Indepth
experience and understanding of Infant, young child and maternal nutrition
interventions.
- At
least two years field experience, preferably with an NGO and or MoH.
- Experience
in application of social behavioral change communication strategies in
promotion of optimal nutrition practices.
- Strong

Overall Purpose
Develop, manage, mobilize and implement Community Health
Strategy and Malaria prevention and control services at district and community
level.
In collaboration with district and divisional Public Health
Officer, local government and CSO’s in the respective field, Design and manage
partnerships between non health workers in the district. Is the focal person
for documentation of project interventions.
Duties & responsibilities
- Provide
technical support to health workers on all aspects of CHS and Malaria
prevention and control services in accordance with GOK guidelines and
requirements.
- Provide
technical expertise in identifying and applying best practices and ensure
that programs meet the required quality standards at the implementation
level by supporting RH/MCH and nutrition services and systems at the
district and community level as appropriate.
- Collaborate
with key stakeholders to support local leadership at all levels to develop
“best practitioners” who will champion CHS and Malaria prevention and
control,
- Ensure
that competencies gained by community level service providers in CHS and
Malaria prevention and control and related fields are applied in service
provision.
- Work
with project staff in the province to ensure adequate data collection
systems exist and that local capacity is developed.

health, public health, nutrition and hygiene promotion to prevent communicable diseases, reduce mortality and improve maternal-child health among vulnerable populations affected by disasters.

Duties & responsibilities
- Develop
a strategic community-based health plan and budget aligned to the
Society’s strategic objectives as well as Government health policies and
strategies
- Conduct
technical assessment to establish critical community-based primary health
care needs as well follow-up investigations of reported infectious
diseases to determine source, contacts and carriers of disease
- Develop
and implement primary health care interventions including immunization
campaigns of vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, polio and
nutritional deficiencies through mobile medical outreach and health camps
- Coordinate
the establishment of emergency health facilities, and emergency trained
personnel and volunteers capable of meeting area’s emergency needs
- Integrate
emergency health into other programmes and undertake joint planning and
implementation with other health agencies at all levels
- Building
community partnerships, identification and mobilisation of potential blood
donors as well as building the capacity of volunteer community leaders to
spearhead the mobilization of blood donors
Minimum Qualifications
- BSc
