The International
Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) is a Research and Training institution
focusing on regional peace support capacity building to respond to conflicts
through preventive, management, and peace building measures.
The centre wishes to engage competent candidates on short term contractual
basis in the following positions:
1. Budget Officer (Based in Karen)
Job Purpose: -
He/she must be experienced in working out budgets/accounting duties, preferably in a training institution of similar standing.

a good command of both spoken and written English.
He/she will be
directly answerable to the Head of Finance and Administration.
Principle Accountabilities: -
Principle Accountabilities: -
- Prepare
and consolidates all IPSTC budgets requirement.
- Prepares
and consolidates budget aspects of all IPSTC run courses.
- Point
of Contact for all donor sponsored IPSTC budgeted courses.
- Coordination
with PCSS and HPSS on budget aspects of sponsored courses.
- External
liaison for all IPSTC courses budget requirements.
- Any
other tasks assigned by the Head of Department from time to time.
Experience: -
- 5 years
relevant experience in an institution of similar standing.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge: -
- Have a
bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, banking or economics
from a reputable university.
- Holder
of Professional Accounting qualifications – CPA (K), ACCA, CIMA, ACA.
- Knowledge
of QuickBooks Accounting package
- Good
interpersonal and people management skills as well as excellent written
and oral communications skills in English and Swahili.
- Analytical
& problem solving skills
- Must be
computer literate, with extensive knowledge of Computer Applications.
2. IN -Charge Facilities (Based in Embakasi)
Job Purpose: -
He/ She manage & direct the facilities of particular buildings / departments / facilities within the school. Job duties may include building maintenance, environmental / safety regulation compliance, grounds maintenance, custodial support, cafeteria support, organization of events, space assignments, etc. Individual has supervisory & budgetary responsibility.
Principle Accountabilities: -
He/ She manage & direct the facilities of particular buildings / departments / facilities within the school. Job duties may include building maintenance, environmental / safety regulation compliance, grounds maintenance, custodial support, cafeteria support, organization of events, space assignments, etc. Individual has supervisory & budgetary responsibility.
Principle Accountabilities: -
- Day to
day running of the accommodation facilities, Admin HQ block and the
Training complex.
- Responsible
for the recording and maintenance, of all damages and ensure they are
reported and subsequent repair.
- Responsible
for liaison with current contractors and identification of any requirement
in relation to maintenance and subsequent contract provision.
- Responsible
for maintenance of all documentation control and records.
- Ensures
the training facilities are available and all set-ups according to Course
requirements.
- Works
with the Supervisors to schedule, supervise and direct the work of all the
civilian work-service personnel in IPSTC.
- Receives,
investigates and acts upon complaints and concerns from the civilian staff
and guests.
- Relays
information and briefs personnel on policy changes.
- Line
Manager to the accommodation staff, training facilities staff and
groundskeeper.
- Preparing
and formulating contracts in relation to facilities management.
- Participates
in facility inspections to ensure that cleanliness, safety and other
standards are consistently attained.
- Any
other grade related duties as directed by the IPSTC Management.
Experience: -
- 2 years
relevant experience in a training institution of similar standing.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge: -
- A
commendable diploma education.
- Excellent
administrative and organizational skills and ability to work independently
as well as in a team.
- Ability
to manage entire facilities.
- Must
have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Must be
computer literate, with extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite.
