Group General Manager and Group Financial Controller Jobs in Kenya


Our client, a young and vibrant group of companies in diverse economic sectors including real estate, hospitality, education and agribusiness is expanding its business horizons within Kenya, Great Lakes Region and West Africa.

In order to maximize on this transformation, they are looking for suitable candidates to fill the following positions:

Group General Manager
 

This is a senior position in the Group with the responsibility of providing overall leadership to the business portfolio. The incumbent reports directly to the Board of Directors and Chairman.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the Group business strategy in the most efficient manner.
  • Develop an investment appraisal structure and advice theboard accordingly.
  • Develop and present annual plans consistent with the strategies to the board of directors for approval.
  • Prepare management and board reports according to professional standards and best practice.
  • Steer the team in developing efficient and effective marketing initiatives to spur growth within the Group companies.
  • Implement an objective, efficient and effective performance management system.
  • Ensure that the Group companies maintain an effective framework of internal controls over risks to maximize profitability.
  • Liaise effectively with key business partners, Government and other stakeholders.
  • Nurture a working environment that attracts, retains and  motivates employees.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory provisions.
Key skills and competences
  • First degree in a relevant field and MBA, both from a recognized university.
  • Holder of a professional qualification and member of a professional body.
  • At least five years experience in the similar position with a large organization, preferably a multinational.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a complex environment involving diversity in culture and business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate Governance.
Group Financial Controller
 
This position is responsible for planning, directing and controlling financial operations of the Group. 

The incumbent reports to Group General Manager.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient running of finance functions within the Group.
  • Ensure reliable financial reporting system for decision making (management accounts and annual financial statements).
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development as a member of senior management team especially on finance strategy.
  • Provide comptrollership functions in order to ensure finances are managed according to policies and  procedures set out by the Group.
  • Coordinate preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure that the Group is statutorily compliant in all aspects of their business operations.
  • Coordinate external audits
  • Manage capital expenditure and projects
Key skills and competences
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance with a Masters in Finance or Business Administration, or any other relevant field.
  • Professional qualification of ACCA or CPA (K) and a member of ICPAK in good standing.
  • Experience in preparation of financial statements according to IAS and IFRS
  • At least four years experience in a similar position in financeof a busy company with computerized financial systems.
  • Possess analytical skills and cute eye for details.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in good corporate governance.
