Web Developer Job in Kenya

Symphony Kenya is looking for an individual to join our dynamic team, in the position of:

Web Developer

Reporting to the Business Software Services’ Senior Manager, this person will work with clients from concept, through design, to production of client’s web requirements.  

He will analyze and review web systems; design, develop, test and document new and existing websites; perform complete testing of web applications and conduct demos, presentations and training to customers.

The candidate should have:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in developing websites and/or web applications.
  • Be proficient in Joomla and any other content management systems
  • Have strong experience in hand coding Joomla templates from scratch including CSS and JavaScript
  • Be proficient in PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, jQuery and AJAX. (Experience in Java (JSP) will be an added advantage).
  • Have good web design skills and has a portfolio of professionally done designs
  • Have experience of interacting with web servers using SSH, HTTPS, FTP and Telnet protocols
  • Have strong database knowledge including MySQL and MS SQL Server – knowledge of scripts/troubleshooting
  • Be proficient with Apache configurations/scripts/troubleshooting
  • Be proficient in Adobe CS 5-6, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Flash, etc…
Requirements (Desirable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Proficient in a second programming language e.g. Java or .NET languages
  • Development experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment
  • Strong knowledge in SEO
