& Service Operations Department within the Technology Division.
Senior IP / MPLS Engineer
Ref: TECHNOLOGY_SIPMPLSE__JULY _2012
Reporting to the IP Network Support Manager, the role holder will participate in Enterprise IP/MPLS network day to day operations and maintenance.
The role will transcend from the core Enterprise network,
through the transmission i.e. SDH, MW and TDM ending on the Wimax BTS Cisco
3400 ME Switches. The role will entail ensuring 100% uptime for the IP core
network and availability of Services on day to day basis.
The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:

- Ensure
availability for each and every IP device on the enterprise infrastructure
network;
- Day
to day analysis of Syslog on the IP Core and fixing of noted service
degradation;
- Central
point of co-ordination for preventive maintenances on the Ent
IP&Transport network;
- Ensure
consistency of network configurations;
- Handle
escalations on the Enterprise Transport & IP infrastructure from the
NOC team;
- Participate
in knowledge transfer for the NOC team;
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills &
competencies:
- Degree
in either Telecoms, Engineering, Physics or Math;
- Cisco
Certifications on professional level i.e. CCIP, CCNP ,CCVP and above;
- Knowledge
of microwave and fiber transmission and access technologies i.e. TDM,SDH
plus experience with vendors like Rad;
- Ability
to manage/troubleshoot a large Service provider Transmission& IP
network;
- Conversant
with IPv4, IPv6 Addressing Schemes, Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM),
VLANs, IP QOS, Triple play services;
- Knowledge
in ISP services; DNS, SMTP, POP3, RADIUS/PPPoE, Web Hosting;
- Minimum
3 Years Experience in a busy ISP/PDNO in managing large
IP&Transport networks;
- Knowledge
of data networking and networking protocols in reference to the WAN and
LAN environments;
- General
knowledge in all layers of data communications, customer applications and
associated technologies.
