Legal Affairs Manager
Job Ref: PC/HRM/6/1/2012-13
The Privatization Commission is a State Corporation established under Section 3 of the Privatization Act, 2005 which is mandated to formulate, manage, and implement the privatization programme.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director/ CEO, key responsibilities will include:
- Provision
of sound legal advice to the management and the Commission;
- Preparing
and arranging all Commission meetings and those of its committees and
producing minutes for dissemination to members;
- Providing
legal advice to the Commission on privatization and other transactions;
- Ensuring
compliance with all legal and statutory requirements;
- Undertaking
research on various legal aspects and processes relating to the mandate of
the Commission;
- Formulating
guidelines required to be issued under the Privatization Act;
- Participating
in contract negotiations;
- Assisting
the Executive Director/ CEO in ensuring appropriate representation of the
Commission in legal matters; and
- Undertaking
any other tasks that may be assigned by the Commission from time to time.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
To qualify for the position, applicants must have the following:
- Bachelor
of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university and be an Advocate of
the High Court of Kenya;
- Minimum
of 10 years’ experience in a busy legal environment;
- Outstanding
integrity with commitment to the course of justice and public interest;
- Proven
advocacy skills with ability to communicate clearly and confidently;
- Ability
to work in a team, often under pressure; and initiative with little or no
supervision;
- Proficiency
in computers;
- Minimum
of five years’ experience in legal/ company secretary department; and
- Excellent
interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
A Master’s degree, experience in commercial transactions and
Certified Public Secretaries qualifications will be an added advantage.
