Electrical Engineer Job in Dadaab Refugee Camp, Kenya


The Danish Refugee Council has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa region since 1997. 

The DRC Kenya Program seeks to fill the following position:
 
Electrical Engineer 

(Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp)
 

Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of electrical systems and components on all site constructions done by DRC.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 4 years’ relevant experience; or Higher National Diploma with at least 6 years’ relevant experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in design and preparation of electrical drawings and bills of quantities as well as supervision of the installation works on site
  • Hand-on experience in electrical installation works in commercial and residential buildings, wiring, testing and repairs. The incumbent shall be expected to attend to emergency maintenance works whenever required
  • Experience working with contractors or supervising contractor’s works including quality control activities is highly desired
  • Registration with Engineers Registration Board or possession of a valid electrician’s license from ERC will be an added advantage
  • Excellent communication skills, and fluent in spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Team player with proven commitment to accountability practices
  • Previous experience working in the Dadaab region or similar challenging environments is preferred
