Trade Manager

This is a high profile position that will appeal to a high profile individual who has a good sense of initiative and personal drive. 

A resourceful individual who is timely in strategic decision making and able to build and leverage value based relationships to achieve business requirements in a high pressure work environment. 

The position requires a candidate who can react and adjust quickly to changing market conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them.

Scope of the Job

The position which reports to the Marketing and Product Management Director, will be responsible for developing and driving the implementation of the distribution strategy for Tetra Pak Eastern Africa. 

The distribution strategy should be geared towards achieving defined volume targets, numeric handling and visibility objectives across the trade channels in a profitable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and work with Tetra Pak customers to define and execute appropriate route to market strategies aimed at delivering effective trade coverage for both dairy and beverage categories
  • Carry out value chain and pricing analysis and give recommendations on price management across the different channels and markets
  • Retail Audit analysis to identify the distribution, market share & QQS levels by category, channel and customer ‘ Develop and drive customer training programmes on best practice for selling, handling of Tetra Pak packages and channel activations programmes and promotions for new products
  • Gather market intelligence and develop strategies to react to changes in the market conditions
  • Maintain a close working relationship with key business partners-customers, distributors and the trade
  • Drive brand visibility initiatives/merchandising solutions for all channels

Experience
  • Position would appeal to a fully mobile, accomplished, results driven sales professional with at least minimum 5 years sales experience with FMCG.
  • The candidate should have experience in a managerial role for a minimum of 3 years leading a sales team in delivery of set targets
  • Clear demonstration of implementation of route to market strategies within the traditional trade will be an added advantage
  • Extensive knowledge of the local retail trade market and retail audit would be an added advantage
Qualification
  • Degree in Marketing, Commerce or Business Administration or relevant Degree
  • Computer: Literate in MS Office packages such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel
