Peace Group is a new Not-For-Profit organization that has recently been
awarded a 6-year and 8-year programs in Africa by International organizations
working with women to promote peace.
Peace group is setting
up its offices in East Africa, with Kenya being the first country in order to
promote democracy, good governance and peaceful elections as the country will
be heading towards the general elections.
These programs aim to appropriately empower African women and youth to strengthen their socio-economic and political stakes through women and youth-led and managed initiatives and institutions.
Peace Group is seeking to fill the following vacant positions for the following anticipated offices in Kenya:
Chief of Party
Stationed in Nairobi with frequent travel to project sites
Purpose Of The Job
The Chief of Party will be responsible for overall strategic leadership and oversight to the project. S/he will ensure timely and efficient delivery of project’s results.
S/he will be
responsible for co-coordinating partners, programme planning and review,
stakeholder engagement, financial and people management, and donor reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide
overall strategic and programmatic leadership and oversight within the
consortium of project partners
- Ensure
that project activities are meeting client and stakeholder expectations
and that project results are pro-actively disseminated.
- Provide
oversight of all project operations and reporting, ensuring compliance
with DONOR requirements and regulations.
- Work
closely with the DONOR and Government counterparts, to ensure the project
effectively complies with the DONOR and GOK objectives, rules and
regulations.
- Ensure
compliance with the policy and legislative requirements of DONOR as
stipulated under the Agreement.
- Supervise
and provide technical guidance to project technical staff, ensure
synchrony and collaboration between technical staff from the various
partner organizations and work with them to bring ideas, findings, and
lessons learned to project leadership and the donor agency.
- Responsible
for timely preparation of annual work plans and reports to the donor.
- Supervise,
mentor, manage and motivate staff for optimal performance of the project.
- Responsible
for co-ordination and collaboration with partner and key stakeholders.
- Document
and disseminate programme achievements and lessons
- Manage
project resources including staff, finances and assets.
Qualifications And
Competencies
- The
ideal candidate should have a minimum of Masters Degree in a relevant
field. A Doctoral Degree is desirable.
- Experience
in Human Resources Management in developing countries would be an added
advantage.
- Sound
knowledge of the HIV/AIDS sector and capacity building, especially in
Kenya.
- Exceptional
managerial and operational experience, and preferably in managing large
complex activities involving coordination with multiple program partner
institutions in developing countries/sub Saharan Africa.
- A
minimum of five years of experience working with DONOR supported projects
and knowledge of the emergency plan goals and DONOR financial rules and
regulations at a senior level.
- Experience
in developing program work-plans, developing program budgets, managing
program implementation, managing staff, and field and managing short-term
technical assistance.
- Excellent
representational and communication skills, written and oral proficiency in
English, and verbal communication skills in one or more local languages.
- A team
player with visionary leadership.
Deputy Chief of Party

Purpose of the Job
The Deputy Chief of Party will be responsible for working under the COP to provide strategic leadership and oversight to the project. S/he will ensure timely and efficient delivery of project’s results as per assignments by the COP.
Qualifications And Competencies

Program Coordinator (1 for each region)
The Program Coordinator will have extensive experience in managing peace-building programs.
Reporting to the Chief
of Party, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day
administration and implementation of Peace Group's program activities,
including baseline survey, participatory stakeholder mapping, coordination with
other peace actors, peace-building training, planning of community dialogues
and reconstruction projects.
The Program
Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring, evaluation and reporting tasks
and will play a key role in building the capacity of Peace Group's local
partners.
Requirements for this position:

- Minimum
3 years experience working with NGOs on peace-building and economic
development Projects, at least 2 of which in a senior managerial role;
- Minimum
Bachelor's degree in peace-building, economic development or related
field;
- Extensive
experience conducting trainings in conflict mitigation, income generation
and monitoring and evaluating program outputs and outcomes;
- Proven
experience in managing staff and ensuring that program objectives are met
in an efficient and effective manner;
- Strong
commitment to working with youth and vulnerable groups regardless of race,
tribe, religion or gender;
- Extensive
experience working with and building the capacity of local partners in
areas of leadership, conflict mitigation and income generation;
- Willing
and able to travel extensively throughout the Rift Valley province;
- Excellent
English communication and report writing skills;
- Excellent
computer skills, including full knowledge of MS Office applications.
The Program Assistant (1 for each region)
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Program Assistant will provide all necessary assistance to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day implementation of program activities, including stakeholder mapping, conflict mitigation trainings, community dialogues, reconstruction projects, as well as monitoring of program activities in the field and provide weekly overviews to the Program Coordinator.
Requirements:
- University
Degree in Social Studies, community development or related field;
- minimum
2 years work experience with a NGO in a similar capacity; commitment to
working with youth and vulnerable groups in need, regardless of race,
tribe, religion or gender;
- ood
interpersonal and problem solving skills;
- strong
written and verbal communication skills; and strong computer skills.
Logistics Officer (1 for each region)
Reporting to the Chief of Party, the Logistics Officer will be responsible for all logistical support and procurement activities, including maintaining records of assets and managing fleet and stores for the regional office.
Requirements:
- University
Degree, CIPS qualification or equivalent;
- at
least 2 years work experience with an international NGO in a similar
capacity is desirable;
- ability
to meet deadlines;
- strong
computer skills; excellent interpersonal skills;
- ability
to abide by Peace Group's and donors' guidelines and procurement code of
conduct.
Finance/Admin Officer (1 for each region)
Reporting to the Chief of Party, the Finance/Admin Officer will be responsible for accurate and timely completion of all financial aspects, general administration and HR functions for the Regional office. S/he will ensure compliance with Peace Group's financial and administrative guidelines, as well as that of the Kenyan Government and Peace Group donors.
Requirements:
- University
degree, CPA qualification or equivalent;
- experience
in finance/admin;
- at
least 2 years work experience with an international NGO in a similar
capacity is desirable;
- familiarity
with various donor financial reporting regulations;
- attention
to detail and capacity to work under pressure;
- excellent
computer skills and full proficiency in Excel.
Administrative Assistant (1 for each region)
Under the supervision and guidance of the Finance/Admin Officer, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for smooth-running of all office functions, perform front office duties, making all local travel arrangements and provide assistance to the Finance/Admin Officer as required

least 1 year work experience in a similar position with a NGO;

Field Assistants – Several posts
The field assistants will assist the Peace Group tracking team. Activities will include administering surveys to individuals and households, meeting with stakeholders and Government bodies to find out their fears and contributions they would be making to ensure peaceful co-existence before and after elections, and travelling to those areas in order to interview individuals.
Requirements:
It is preferred that
candidates
- have
obtained a college diploma or university degree, preferably in sociology,
statistics, economics, education, development studies, social sciences,
health, or related fields.
- Candidates
must have completed secondary schooling.
- Skills
in data collection and survey administration; ability to work with local
administrators; training in taking anthropometric measurements
preferred.
- Computer
knowledge and typing skills required.
