NGO Jobs in Kenya - Islamic Relief


Established in 1984 in the UK, Islamic Relief (IR) is an international NGO seeking to promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development activities. 

IR Kenya invites applications for the following positions:

1. Regional Disaster Programme Manager (RDPM)


Under the supervision of the Regional Director, the Regional Disaster Programme Manager will provide results-based strategic guidance, leadership, management and capacity building to the regional offices, specifically, and to the broader IR African team

Qualifications:
  • Masters degree preferably in social sciences, with at least 5 years experience in humanitarian sector
2. Disaster Programme Coordinator (DPC)

Under the supervision of the Head of Programmes (HoP) and working closely with the Area Managers, Programme Quality Coordinator and Departmental Heads, the DPC will provide overall Programme management and technical support to the Disaster Risk Management projects.

Qualifications:

Masters degree preferably in social sciences, with at least 3 years experience in humanitarian sector in Kenya

3. Area Manager

( 2 position)

Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the Area Manager will, act as key Islamic Relief’s Representative in the County and to manage and co-ordinate the effective and efficient implementation of IRW programmes. 

These include Project Development (Design Project proposal followed by
assessment), Monitoring, Reporting and Administration.

Representation of the organisation and co-ordination with other players is central.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Business Administration or Related field with Professional Qualification in supply chain management (CIPS) with , 5 years of previous experience in a similar position in both emergency and development projects; preferably in ECHO, UN and/or USAID funded projects:

4. Operation Coordinator 

Dadaab/ Garissa

Under the direct supervision of the Area manager, the Operations Coordinator (OC) will support and assist in management of the Dadaab/Garissa programme. 

The OC will have responsibility for sections of the Area programme including Security, Logistics and Procurements.

The OC will be expected to have a good understanding of the overall Dadaab/Garissa programme and be able to effectively represent the organisation and the Area programme to Donors, Government, stakeholders and partners at the County level.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree level, 2 years of previous systems management experience, including logistics, HR, and admin management. Previous Experience in Dadaab or Refugee Camps Set-up will be added advantage

5. Logistic Officer :  

Wajir

Under the Direct supervision of the operations support Manger the logistics officer is expected to: Implement logistics management systems according to IR Logistics Guidelines and take the lead in matters pertaining to procurement, tender procedures, contracting, commodities warehousing, vehicle fleet management and asset management, distribution support and mandatory reporting.

This also includes the requisitioning of assets according to the project budget lines and maintaining and developing a proper asset and inventory control and tracking system.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Business Administration or Related field with Professional Qualification in supply chain management (CIPS) with , 5 years of previous experience in a similar position in both emergency and development projects; preferably in ECHO, UN and/or USAID funded

6. Construction Supervisor 

( 4 Months contract)

Under the supervision of WASH Advisor the construction supervisor will supervise the implementation of WASH projects at field level by maintaining the quality of the activities and effective operation systems, accurate, technical, financial and narrative reporting corresponding to IR’s Guidelines through the advice of WASH Advisor and WASH Coordinator and collaboration with WASH officer.

Qualification
  • University degree in Civil and Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
7. Receptionist

Under the supervision of the HR Assistant, the Receptionist is the primary interface between IRK and the general public that visit or telephone the Office. 

As such, he/she must be able to represent IRK professionally and always be friendly and pleasant to all callers and visitors. 

The Receptionist is responsible for the front office duties working as a part of the administration team and as such the job role may occasionally be altered to assist others. 

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Front office management, Administration, PR & Customer care or any other relevant field.
  • At least three years’ experience in busy office handling front office or office administration, preferably with an NGO.
