Communication and Advocacy Associate, and Youth Coordinator Jobs in Kenya


Founded in 1973,Ipas is a global nongovernmental organization dedicated to ending preventable deaths and disabilities from unsafe abortion. 

Through local, national and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women obtain safe, respectful and comprehensive reproductive health services. 

Ipas has two vacant positions to be based at the African Alliance office in Nairobi. 

The Ipas Africa Alliance focuses on regional policy change and improving reproductive health programs in Kenya and a number of other Africa countries.

Communication and advocacy Associate
  • This position is responsible for supporting advocacy and communications activities including engagement with the media; 
  • provision of technical support to increase the availability and use of evidence through materials, presentations and other communication channels, and building capacity for advocacy with women’s groups, youth groups, and other champions.
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in social science and communication or equivalent, 5 years minimum experience in planning and implementing communication and media strategies. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and good team player 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Excellent administrative and budget preparing skills, and demonstrated
  • computer skills.
Youth Coordinator
  • This position will focus on ensuring that young women and men receive the information and care they need to prevent and manage unplanned pregnancy. 
  • The Youth Coordinator will be responsible for developing the capacity and skills of young women and men to advocate for sexual and health and rights of young people. 
  • He/she will plan programs to better meet the needs of young people through: youth workshops, university outreaches, and national youth leadership. 
  • The position works closely with other NGOs and partners in meeting work objectives.
Requirements:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or equivalent, 3 years minimum experience in planning and implementing youth program strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and good team player
  • Good communication skills. Excellent administrative and budget preparing skills, and demonstrated computer skills.
These positions are offered on a one year renewable contract based on performance and availability
of funds.
