Full-time
Lecturers
Applicants for lecturer positions must have a Masters Degree in relevant fields, with at least between 2-5 years teaching experience at a university level, after attaining the Masters.
PhD
Degree holders and those with evidence of relevant research and publications
will have a distinct advantage.
The
lecturers will be expected to undertake research, develop and mount short
courses as well as teach in regular university programmes.

Applicants must have a PhD Degree with competencies in Strategic Planning, Management, future emerging trends, forecasting. They also must have at least 3 years teaching experience in a university level.
iv. Lecturer in Law, Ethics and Governance
Applicants must have a PhD or Masters Degree in Constitutional Law with competencies in values, ethics and governance with at least 3 years teaching experience in a university level.
v. Lecturer in Computer Science/ Management Information Systems
Applicants must have a PhD or Masters Degree in Computer Science/ Management Information Systems or Information and Communication Technology with at least 3 years teaching experience in a university level.

Overall Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Dean of School, this position shall be responsible to design, develop and deliver a range of programmes of teaching to students in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully and to determine, develop and carry out relevant independent research projects to extend knowledge of the appropriate subject area in tandem with the vision and mission of Africa International University.
Main Responsibilities:
- Teach
undergraduate and post graduate students (on campus , e-learning and
distance/extension) in areas allocated by the Head of Department.
- Supervise
or assist with supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Assist
in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and
maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and
attendance.
- Participate
in departmental and faculty meetings and seminars aimed at sharing
research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and
outside the department.
- Write
lecture material and handouts and presenting information in lectures,
seminars and tutorials and through other methods to facilitate education
and learning.
- Set,
mark and assess learning tasks and provide timely feedback to students and
the department.
- May
be member of departmental planning team to determine teaching programme
for the academic year.
- Take
feedback from students to improve teaching methodologies and content
within the department/faculty, for example, changes to make to course
material.
- Write
papers on topic relevant to specialist subject area such as for journals,
books and other material using appropriate media.

dissertation reports and providing references for students.
- Participate
as member of departmental/faculty subject group, determining teaching
requirements.

in relevant committees within AIU as requested by management
- Attend
conferences in specialist subject area to liaise and network with
national/international colleagues the role holder may, on occasion, be
invited to give presentations and lectures in his/her specialism and/or
organize sessions in conferences or workshops.

- PhD
degree in the area of specialty with one publication OR Masters degree

Medical
Doctor
Applicants must have a University Degree in Human Medicine from a recognized institution and Postgraduate training and qualifications in the medical field.
They
must be board-certified and registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and
Dentists board and have at least 6 years working experience in a reputable

Funds
Development and Mobilization Officer
Applicants must have University Degree in Commerce or Communication with specialization in marketing and/or fundraising.
Relevant
Masters and postgraduate qualification will be added advantage.

a long term, five year fundraising strategy to raise funds locally and
internationally based on the AIU Transforming Hope Capital Campaign
2011-16.

and donor recognition with an aim of meeting set targets.

year-round communications with funding partners, including written
reports, funding partners surveys and in-person meetings providing

- Prepare
reports and analyses setting forth progress, trends and appropriate
recommendations or conclusions to the Management.
- Develop
and implement a plan to prospect and establish new corporate, foundation,
church and donor relationships with a goal of increasing funds.
- Maintain
and grow relationships with current corporates, foundations, churches and
donors with a goal of continued and increased donations from funding
partners.
- Develop
an annual budget and detailed written operating plan local and
international fundraising.
- Demonstrate
strong leadership and management within a team structure for transparent,
effective and efficient fundraising efforts.
- Work
with Directors to develop revenue projections for the year.
- Maintain
and fulfill an accurate list of funding partners benefits.
- Assist
Director in determining fiscal requirements for development activities and
prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile
expenditure of budgeted funds.
- Manage
and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
- Perform
other duties as required.
Qualifications and experience:
- Holder
of a degree in Commerce or Communication with specialization in marketing
and/or fundraising. Relevant postgraduate qualification will be a distinct
advantage.
- Proven
work experience of not less than five years in fundraising and/or
marketing in a large multi-sector organization. Similar productive
experience in fundraising with a non-governmental organization (NGO) with
international exposure will be a definite advantage.
- A
good portfolio of both local and international fundraising contacts or
associates will be an added advantage.
- Ability
to internalize and articulate the AIU Vision and Mission and relay it
through fundraising activities together with building and maintaining
beneficial networks.
- Results
and goal oriented with proven track record.

Deputy
Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration
Applicants must have a PhD Degree in business administration, commerce, accounting, finance or economics with minimum 5 years experience in a senior financial and business responsibility preferably in an institution of higher learning.
Experience in the areas of financial planning, fiscal management, budgetary systems, capital development projects, risk management and procurement with competency in MS Office Applications and Accounting packages is required.
In
addition they must have professional accounting qualifications and be members
of ICPAK or relevant accounting professional body.

- Be
responsible as the Chief financial officer for overseeing the financial
business of the University.
- In
consultation with the Vice-Chancellor, chair the committees concerned with
the business and financial management of the university and shall serve on
other appropriate committees by virtue of office
- Develop
and implement all fiscal, administrative policies and appropriate
procedures to ensure common understanding in the performance of duties and
responsibilities and align them to the University’s strategic plan.
- Participate
as a key member of the University’s Management team and Senate and
collaborate with the teams to develop and/or review the strategy and
direction of the University.
- Communicate
the University policies and regulations to ensure adequate standards of
financial control as well as regulatory and statutory compliance.
- Review
and approve financial and administrative policies and procedures.
- Review
audit reports, finding and recommendations to ensure implementation of the
required compliance actions.
- Report
on the University’s overall financial position and ensure the timely
advice regarding operational issues and the production of the yearly
Financial Reports.
- Carry
out an analysis of potential opportunities and threats and plan and manage
risk that they would present to the University’s operations.
- Oversee
the strategic management and the successful implementation of all
financial and administrative information systems.
- Work
with the University schools/departments to develop and monitor capital and
operating budgets and research funds.
- Provide
leadership in negotiation of grants and contracts to ensure that all
financial requirements meet the University’s best interests.
- Take
part in the University’s development plan.
- Maintain
and build relationships by participating in a variety of committees, both
internal and external to the University.
- Teach
