PAFID – Conservation
Agriculture Regional Programme
PAFID is an NGO currently implementing a Conservation Agriculture programme in Eastern, Western and Rift Valley Provinces.
The programme
introduces Conservation Agriculture at community level and trains farmers on
best agronomic practices including tillage, weed control, crop rotation, crop
nutrition and disease and pest control.
PAFID is seeking to recruit up to TEN
agronomists to strengthen our capacity in the above areas and for future
expansion into other regions.Responsibilities
- Conduct
farmer contact meetings and follow up meetings
- Select
and recruit lead farmers
- Provide
training and support to lead farmers and farmer groups
- Liaise
with the Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders
- Develop
and coordinate contacts with agro dealers
- Implement
work plans, budgets, and timelines
- Participate
in monthly team meetings
- Assess
the training needs of farmers and stakeholders
- Participate
in joint activities with other stakeholders e.g. field days and
agricultural shows
Requirements
- A
Bachelors’ degree or Diploma from a recognised institution in a relevant
agricultural discipline with at least 2 years work experience in a related
field
- Hands-on
experience in Maize and/or Legume production
- Experience
in community mobilization and working with farmers and farmer groups
- Excellent
command of oral and written English and Kiswahili
- Computer
literacy
- Good
planning and organizational skills
- Ability
to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Be
prepared to be transferred to any location in Kenya
- MUST
HAVE A VALID MOTORCYCLE LICENSE
