Nutritionist
Applications are hereby invited from qualified persons to fill the position mentioned above.
Based in South Sudan, Medair is looking for a Nutritionist for its Emergency Response Programme.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessment
of nutrition needs in remote areas, making recommendations and coming up
with intervention strategies
- Implementing
and interpreting nutrition surveys and assessments
- Coordinating
and carrying out nutrition responses regarding nutritional emergencies
- Checking
inventory to ensure accurate nutritional inventory as well as preparation
of nutritional part of field trip, check that inventories are kept in
field locations
- Ensuring
adequate stocks and timely requests of nutrition equipment
- Ensuring
timely nutritional equipment supplies requests are submitted to the
Project Manager
- Responsible
for diagnosis of nutrition patients and ensuring the correct treatment is
prescribed
- Provision
and coordination of appropriate nutritional education at household and
clinic levels
- Review
assessment and management of malnutrition in health facilities
- Assist
with capacity building of County Health Departments in managing and
supervising nutrition programmes
- Training
and supervision of local MoH health staff or staff from partner NGO using
the GoSS MoH guidelines
- Giving
input to Medair’s and South Sudan nutrition policy and guidelines
- Ensuring
accurate and timely reporting of activities
- Liaison
with partner NGO’s, local authorities and MoH
- Management
of local staff
The suitable candidate should have the following attributes:
- Bsc
degree in Nutrition or related field
- At
least 2 years working experience in nutrition in humanitarian relief
programmes and South Sudan
- Excellent
communication skills (oral & written), Fluent in English, Arabic an
added advantage
- High
sense of responsibility, good organisational, coordination and time
management skills
- Flexibility
and willingness to work extended and irregular hours due to emergencies
- Team
player and able to work in a diverse cultural environment
- Excellent
computer skills, Microsoft Word and Excel, computer programmes for statistic
analysis
