CESVI is now seeking to fill the following positions on a rolling basis for its Wajir /Mandera Office with possible missions to Nairobi. (As soon as the right candidate is identified, the position closes automatically)

Position: Child Protection Officers 

2 Positions


Location:
 Wajir /Mandera

Duration: 6 months (2 months’ trial period)

Reports to: Project Manager

Under the general supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent provides oversight of the monitoring of and reporting on Cesvi’s programmes; identify gaps in children services; and strengthening coordination of the emergency child protection programmes in the Mandera/Wajir area.

Duties and responsibilities:

The staff will be responsible for administering and monitoring Cesvi- child protection activities in the Wajir and Mandera area in the following manner:

  1. Identify gaps in children services and alternative courses of action to accelerate/improve programme delivery in line with UNICEF overall strategy in the Turkana area.
  2. Ensure effective implementation of programme support for Cesvi child protection activities in the project area and manage and monitor the designate project.
  3. Facilitate and support strengthening of child protection coordination in the project area.
  4. Supervise the establishment and operations of child friendly spaces
  5. Ensure timely reporting of the project activities and financial management an asset.
Requirements

Desirable Qualifications:

Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, or related technical field specifically pertaining to protection issues affecting children and women.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of emergency experience, preferably with exposure to child protection.
  • Knowledge of the project areas and dialect highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming for IDTR, psycho social support, GBV prevention and response and other child protection interventions.
Position: Social Workers / Counselor

Location: Wajir/Mandera

Duration: 6 months (2 months’ trial period)

Reports to: Project Manager

Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma in social work from a reputable institution with counselling skills by way of certification and or experience
  • 2 years working experience with children and child related duties
  • Willingness to live in the project area,
  • Qualified locals highly encouraged to apply
Position: Project Accountant /Logistician

Location: Wajir / Mandera

Duration: 6 months (2 months’ trial period)

Reports to: Project Manager

Job Description

The Accountant, to be based in Wajir/Mandera and working within the framework of a Cesvi-managed project there, will have be responsible for the following as his/her primary duties:
  1. Carrying out accounting and administration duties and assignments.
  2. Being in charge of keeping cashbooks and drafting financial reports.
  3. Receiving and filing project correspondence/documents (especially financial correspondence/documents) and circulating them – if so required – only to CESVI staff.
  4. Facilitating, supporting and assisting in all internal control mechanisms and audit-related activities.
  5. Facilitating, supporting and assisting in processing project-related payments.
  6. Facilitating, supporting and properly checking any documentation justifying project-related payments.
  7. Proceeding to periodic cash counts to be certified by a line manager.
  8. Providing support to the Project Manager in the management of human resources within the project.
  9. Keeping and updating an HR-related database including leave files, sick leave, salary payment, etc.
  10. Assisting in calculating and submitting local tax returns.
  11. Assisting in maintaining payroll support, accounting reconciliation and documenting all financial administration.
  12. Providing support to the logistics officer for small procurement procedures.
  13. The accountant might be asked to assist in duties that are not directly in line with finance matters, but do relate to project management.
  14. It is expected that Cesvi staff support and assist one another as much as possible with their tasks and responsibilities, within their capacity and abilities, in order to maintain and improve operations, output and the image of Cesvi related to the project.
Requirements
  • Administrative, accounting or finance-related degree or higher certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years’ related work experience with NGOs, INGOs or 3 years within the private sector.
  • Good understanding of accounting.
  • Good written and oral command of English.
  • Good IT skills, ranging from proficiency with the MS Office suite to other computer-related knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility and readiness to work in an international and multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Strong humanitarian commitment and ethic values.

Position: Project Cashier

2 Positions

Location: 
Wajir /Mandera

Duration: 6 months (2 months’ trial period)

Reports to: Project Manager

Duties
  • Manager the project petty cash;
  • Making project payments on time and accurately;
  • Record keeping including filing receipts and any other accountable documents;
  • Work in consultation with the project accountant;
  • Any other administrative duties assigned by the Project Manager.
Requirements
  • Administrative, accounting or finance-related diploma or certificate like CPA or KATC.
  • Minimum 1 years’ related work experience with NGOs, INGOs or 2years within the private sector.
  • Good understanding of accounting.
  • Good written and oral command of English.
  • Good IT skills, ranging from proficiency with the MS Office suite to other computer-related knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility and readiness to work in an international and multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
