Accounts Assistant


Location:
 South Sudan
Contract Length:
 One year initial contract with possibility of renewal

Working with the South Sudan Finance Manager on a day– to day basis, he/she will be responsible for the administrative functions of the accounts department and will be responsible for processing of all accounts payable functions and provide general support to the Accounts Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Make all the cash payments in accordance with the established procedures.
  • Prepare the Petty Cash report for replenishment.
  • Review all invoices received in person or by mail and distribute to the appropriate departments for approval.
  • Raising payment vouchers, making approved payments and ensuring that all expenses are adequately supported.
  • Preparation of the financial reports to be submitted to the Finance Manager.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual accountability reports to the regional office
  • Record the transactions in the ACCPAC software program.
  • Generate the corresponding check and check documentation and update the bank balances.
  • Batch the checks by country and forward to the designated accountant for review.
  • Arranging for appropriate delivery of payments and file the documents as per the established procedure.
  • Research petty cash and accounts payable issues as requested by vendors or accounts department staff.
  • Prepare documentation needed for annual audit and project audit as requested.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with review, project and audit functions as requested..
  • Provide bookkeeping and accounting services to the project.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • CPA 111 holder from a recognized institution with a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position.
  • Familiarity with not-for-profit Accounting systems will be required.
  • Knowledge of ACCPAC Computerized accounting software and proficiency in other computer skills is a MUST.
  • Experience working with an NGO or UN agencies
  • Ability to function independently and take initiative as required.
  • Compatibility with World Concern’s ethos, values and mission.
  • Above average functional knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to an environment for effective team functioning and building.
