Position: Project Manager – Gender Based Violence

The Position
Under the supervision of the Field coordinator –Kitale, the Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of Gender Based Violence (GBV) project at operational and technical levels. Acting on behalf of Handicap-international, the PM coordinates GBV activities by ensuring the project team, partners and stakeholders professionally implement and plan strategically projects activities.
S/he is expected to improve and maintain effective communication and mutual relationship with all stakeholders; maintain operational standards according to HI’s policy and in line with the requirements of the donor; and ensure that the general code of conduct for humanitarian workers is observed not only by the PM but by her/his team in the project.
S\he is responsible for :-
1. Coordination and Management of the GBV project by
·         Ensuring the development of project operational plans per year of implementation using the HI standard project planning tools.
·         Providing technical support to partner organizations by ensuring adherence to partnership agreements throughout the project implementation process.
·         Spearheading the resource mobilization process for the project through proposal development based on the community needs and funding opportunities in reference to the HI-KENSOM programme strategy.
·         Proposing strategies for the expansion of the GBV project and contributing to necessary amendments that lead to a significant impact for the project.
·         Preparing the evaluation phase of the project and overseeing the implementation of the recommendations.
2. Management of the GBV project team
3. Quality monitoring and reporting
4. Management and Monitoring of the project financial and logistics resources
Qualifications and skills required:
·         Degree in Social Sciences or a related field with relevant short term training in Gender and SGBV.
·         At least 2 years experience in community development work.
·         Good reporting writing and presentation skills
·         Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through informal and formal trainings
·         Computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet.
·         Experience with International NGO is an added advantage.
