overseeing the implementation of strategies and policies relating to provision
of water and sewerage services.
The organisation facilitates the achievement of national goals as set out in the National Water Policy through setting and enforcing service standards, tariffs, and monitoring progress on service coverage, consumer safety, and environmental sustainability.
The corporation now seeks to strengthen its human resources capacity by recruiting qualified candidates for the following positions based in Nairobi.
Legal Officer

Legal Officer
Reporting to the Head, Legal and Enforcement, the Legal Officer will be assisting in the management of the Legal and Enforcement function of corporation and specifically, will be required to:
- Continuously
monitor the licenses and the service provision agreements on water service
boards and their agents to ensure compliance.
- Provide
periodic reports on compliance measures for each licensee and each service
provider.
- Continuously
review the legal standards in place with a view to making improvements on
regulation of the water services sector
- Enforcing
compliance with the regulation and standards in the water services boards
and water service providers
- Researching
on legal issues arising in the regulation of water services and
- Providing
legal advice, recommendations and briefings to all internal functions
- Participating
in the formulation and review of legal procedures and policies for the
Organization
- Keeping
abreast of changes in the legal and regulatory environment impacting on
the organization and advising on necessary response.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Law (Upper Second Hons.) from a well recognized University
- Diploma
in Law from Kenya School of Law/ accredited commonwealth legal education
council
- Must
be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and possess a current practicing
certificate
Key Competencies and Experience:
- Demonstrated
ability to effectively monitor compliances
- Demonstrate
expertise to create and vet legal documentation with reference to
licenses, agreements, orders and notices in a dynamic environment
- Must
have excellent interpersonal skills to foster team work and effectively relate
well with diverse professional team members
- Capacity
to work effectively with minimum supervision, meet strict deadlines and
cope with work pressure.
- Demonstrate
high ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Must
demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to write compelling
reports
- Should
have a minimum of three years experience in a busy organization handling
criminal and/or civil matters in court.
- High
level of computer literacy
Public Relations Officer
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head, Communications and Information Management, the Public Relations Officer will be responsible for the management of the customer relations function of the corporation, besides assisting in other communications and public relations activities.
Specifically, the officer will be required to:

- Handle
customer relations activities
- Undertake
liaison activities with key state agencies, water services providers and
stakeholders in the water sector.
- Make
follow-ups on customer complaints to strengthen customer focus within the
sector
- Coordinate
and supervise activities of a citizen engagement mechanism established by
the corporation to promote engagement with consumers and foster
transparency and accountability in the sector
- Assist
in the gathering, collation and dissemination of information to create
awareness on water issues
- Produce
a variety of institutional literature including newsletters, reports, and
other publications to create share information on water sector development
initiatives and achievements.
- Assist
in the management of public awareness creation activities through the mass
media and relevant channels.
- Manage
institutional events including stakeholder forums, shows and exhibitions,
and other community relations activities.
Qualifications:
- A
Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or related field, with a Post-Graduate
Qualification in Mass Communication or
- A
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or its equivalent
Key Competencies:
- Excellent
interpersonal skills
- Excellent
written and oral communication skills
- Experience
in community mobilization and use of communication tools for development
will be an added advantage.
- A
minimum of 3 years working experience in a communications, public
relations, or customer service function in a dynamic organisation.
- High
level of computer literacy
