World Concern Development organization, a Relief and Development Organization, wishes to recruit qualified and competent person for the following position to be based in Garissa.

Nutritionist (Re-advertised)

Contract (six months)

The overall objective of this position is to manage the health and nutrition responses in the HADA project and oversee the design, evaluation, and implementation of the health and nutrition programs.

This includes coordination with government officials, relevant bodies and NGOs; the design and management of mechanisms for nutritional and health surveillance; the preparation of relevant reports and information necessary to direct the program and report to donors.

Major Responsibilities:
  1. Coordination with government officials, relevant UN bodies and NGOs; the design and management of mechanisms for nutritional and health surveillance; the preparation of relevant reports and information necessary to direct the program and report to donors.
  2. Contribute technical expertise in line with international best relief practices in health and nutrition and actively promote capacity building of local and expat staff as well as partners where needed.
  3. Ensure effective monitoring and ongoing assessment of health and nutrition project progress and quality against stated objectives, budget and international health and nutrition standards. Provide health and nutrition technical inputs to internal and external reports and proposals before external submission.
  4. Responsible for the medical and nutritional content of assessments, reports and strategy recommendations including advising on the technical ability of World Concern or partners to respond with appropriate staffing and resources needed to meet international standards.
  5. Liaise as needed with other health and nutrition professionals to explore possible new programs, partnerships, handovers, funding or cooperative agreements and to avoid duplication of services in close communication with the Relief Coordinator. Represent World Concern at forums and external cross-sectoral events as requested. Liaise closely with World Concern Development Program’s Technical Support Unit where appropriate.
Qualification and Experience 
  1. 3 years health care program management and nutrition experience, preferably in a relief setting. Medical degree, Nursing degree and/or Masters of Public Health.
  2. Clearly demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate technical nutritional assessments using established and recognized anthropometric assessment methodologies.
  3. Competence in the use of MS Office and Strong capacity building and facilitation skills, accompanied with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  4. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  5. Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.
  6. Clearly demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate technical nutritional assessments and health programs using established and recognized anthropometric assessment methodologies following international standards.
