Chief Financial Accountant Job in Kenya

The Authority is seeking to recruit qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following position:
Chief Financial Accountant

Department / Section: Finance
Reports To: Chief Finance Officer
Job Purpose: To implement an accounting and internal control system related to Financial Accounting and Coordinate expenditure and Statutory financial reporting activities.

Scope of work / duties / responsibilities
§  Prepare monthly, quarterly, half-year and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and Kenyan Laws;
§  Work with the external auditors to finalize annual financial statements;
§  Review, develop and implement a chart of Accounts to match organization activities/structure.
§  Ensure valuation of KCAA fixed assets when desirable
§  Ensure continuous tagging of KCAA Assets and updates fixed asset register accordingly;
§  Supervise the preparation of month end, and year end closing journal entries and maintain the operational integrity of the accounting information system;
§  Maintain accounting and internal control procedures for payroll and supervise payroll operations including the preparation of withholding PAYE tax returns, disbursement of taxes and other monies withheld from employees pay to third party creditors and central government;
§  Supervise the accounts payable and purchasing process, by approving purchase orders, certifying availability of funds and managing cash flow to ensure adequate cash for disbursements;
§  Work with the Chief Finance Officer & the Management Accountant to drive the budgeting process, monitor spending to keep within the Authority and departmental budgets;
§  Provide lead in the automation of KCAA Financial Processes and develop appropriate chart of accounts;
§  Carry out any other official duties within their competence assigned by Chief Finance Officer
Qualifications
§  A first degree in Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or Business Administration.
§  A CPA (K) /ACCA
§  MBA will be a distinct advantage
Experience
§  At least 5 years 3 of which should be in senior financial Reporting responsibilities.
Knowledge and skills
§  High integrity,
§  Independent and computer literate,
§  Honest and excellent interpersonal skills,
§  Demonstrated high level of maturity and good leadership skills,
§  Analytical, assertive, good communication skills and good negotiating skills.
