The CRADLE is a non-governmental, non-partisan and not- for- profit organization committed to the promotion, protection and enhancement of the rights of the child through legal aid; legislative and policy advocacy; awareness creation; and research, monitoring and documentation.

The CRADLE is seeking for 2 qualified and experienced persons for the following position:

Program Officer- Research, Monitoring and Documentation Program

Reporting to Executive Director

Responsibilities

  • Management of the Research, Monitoring and Documentation Programme.
  • Compile and maintain an up to date client database of case trends and related children’s issues.
  • Monitoring compliance with Kenya’s international and regional obligations on child rights.
  • Development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on Child rights.
  • Coordinating Research and management of The CRADLE’s publications.
  • Managing of the Resource and Documentation Centre.
  • Ensure the hosting and management of a webpage by The CRADLE..
  • Coordinate an electronic Newsletter managed through a national and international list server.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a Law degree from a recognized University, Master degree is an added advantage.
  • Have at least 3 years experience in relevant legal work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child rights issues especially in Kenya.
  • Excellent IT user skills.
  • Good communication, presentation, research and analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing and design.
Program Officer- Child Rights and Awareness Program

Reporting to Programme Manager, Child Rights and Awareness

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management of the Child Rights Education and Awareness Programme.
  • Undertake the implementation of assigned projects under the programme in relation to schools and the community.
  • Build capacity of different professions, partners and community leaders on Child rights.
  • Mainstream a child rights approach to programming internally and with key partners, including the Government of Kenya.
  • Formulate and spearhead effective and innovative Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaigns, advocacy and networking campaigns geared towards child rights promotion and protection.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a degree from in law from a recognized University or a degree in a relevant social science.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as an officer working on children’s rights.
  • Good working knowledge of both International and National Child and Human Rights laws and policies.
  • Solid programming and technical expertise in legal training, specifically in the area of Child and Human Rights.
  • Media skills would be an added advantage.
