Finance Officer Job in Nairobi – Printing Establishment

Our client is a rapidly expanding small-medium printing establishment located in Nairobi, serving local and regional clients with the provision of quality offset printing solutions.
We are looking to fill their new position of Finance Officer to support the company’s financial strategy planning and manage day to day finance and accounting functions, within a team.

Functions of Role:

·         Determining financial objectives, designing & implementing systems, policies & procedures in co-ordination with top management to facilitate best practice financial management
·         Developing business plans and strategies for maximizing profitability & revenue generation & realize corporate goals.
·         Managing the timely preparation and presentation of statutory books of accounts, financial statements and annual reports, ensuring conformance to regulatory accounting standards
·         Ensuring timely filing of returns such as VAT and Income Tax as per the relevant acts & interfacing with Auditors and regulatory authorities for assessments and remittances.
·         Managing Company’s assets and financial structure
·         Informing the Management about new sources of finance for company’s debt facilities
·         Ascertaining fund requirements after careful analysis of budget and plans; defining disbursement plan based on functional requirements
·         Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance
·         Analyzing competitors and market trends
·         Liaising with the internal finance and management team and external advisors
·         Provide management support to finance and administrative staff
Specific Responsibilities:
·         Prepare monthly analysis of cost of goods sold and operational expenses against prior year and budget, providing explanations and business solutions to help mitigate the risks.
·         Partner with production and sales teams in determining financial impact due to product cost reductions and prepare periodic forecasts to update management on projected results.
·         Making financial reports on – Cash management strategies – Forecasting the financial position of the Company revenue, working capital, – expenditure and return on investment
·         Formulating budgets and conducting variance analysis to determine difference between projected & actual results and implementing corrective actions
·         Preparing funds flow and cash flow statements to monitor the inflow & outflow of funds and ensure optimum utilization of available funds towards the accomplishment of corporate goals.
·         Identify, investigate, and analyze potential operational improvement. As appropriate, based on findings make proposal for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc.)
·         Supervise finance and administrative staff
·         Perform all other duties as assigned and required.
Required Qualifications
·         Possess a minimum Bachelor’s degree or strong Diploma qualifications in finance, business administration, economics or related field.
·         CPA qualified
·         Five to Seven years work experience in similar position.
·         Experience in the printing industry an added advantage.
·         Experience in developing and implementing finance strategies
·         Ability to analyze industry trends and external financial environments
·         Experience working within a finance and administrative team with ability to provide supervisory support
·         Knowledge of corporate legal and statutory requirements
·         Strong experience in income statement analysis.
·         Advanced Excel skills
·         Advanced skills in Quick Books and other accounting packages such as Pastel etc.
·         Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook.

·         Have a flare for numbers, aggressively anticipate impacts of workload/issues to team deadlines and have a very positive work attitude including willing to work some longer hours during peak periods.
·         Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
·         Strong verbal and written communication skills.
·         Self motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects.
·         Ability to work well within a team, including management skills
