Engineers, Project Officer and Clerk of Works Jobs in a Kenyan Financial Institution

A local financial institution invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, result driven and self-motivated individuals to fill the following vacant posts:

Electrical / Mechanical 
(1 Position)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree Electrical/Electronic Engineering OR Building Services Engineering from a Recognized University with minimum Second Upper Class Division;
  • Be a Registered Engineer and a Full Member of recognized engineering professional body;

  • Have a minimum five years working experience in Project Management in a busy Engineering design office or Class A Electrical Engineering contracting as a senior engineer for a total of five years
  • Aged between 32 – 36 years
  • Good skills in IT particularly in engineering design, documentation and reporting.
  • Have good interpersonal, communication, analytical and planning skills
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparation of technical proposals and Terms of Reference (TOR) for Electrical/Electronic Engineering works.
  • Participation in tender documentation analysis and evaluation process.
  • Preparation of evaluation procedures for evaluation of the capital project or works to be undertaken.
  • Daily supervision of the implementation of Electrical/Electronic Engineering works.
  • Preparing progress reports.
  • Any other duty that may be allocated by Management.
Civil/ Structural Engineer 
(1 Position)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree Civil/Structural Engineering from a Recognized University with minimum Second Upper Class Division;
  • Be a Registered Engineer and a Full Member of recognized engineering professional body;
  • Have a minimum five years working experience in the Project Management as site Agent or Site Engineer OR have worked in a busy building design office of with a class A building contractor as a senior engineer for a total of five years
  • Aged between 32 – 36 years
  • Good skills in IT particularly in engineering design, documentation and reporting.
  • Have good communication skills both oral and written;
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform the duties of an in-house Site Engineer for major building projects of the institution
  • Developing technical proposals including design briefs for consultants or in-house development as directed by management.
  • Drafting the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the consultants to be appointed for undertaking detailed design and related professional services.
  • Reviewing designs, drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities and tender documents.
  • Preparation of specifications for Civil/Structural Engineering Works in new and old buildings
  • Daily supervision of the implementation of capital project
  • Participation in various tender analysis and evaluation committees to provide technical support.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and disputes resolution activities and provide technical back-up in any arbitration regarding disputes on capital projects.
  • Supervising the technical staff working in the section and Clerk of Works where applicable.
  • Any other duty allocated by the Management.
Project Officer 
(2 Positions)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from recognized institution with minimum Second Upper Class Division
  • A Registered Architect or Quantity Surveyor in Kenya with minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience working in a busy environment.
  • Aged between 30 – 40 years
  • Evidence of having participated in the delivery of high quality and value facilities renovation and remodelling works.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of artisans in renovation and remodelling works.
  • Experience in delivering high quality interior design works.
  • Excellent inter-personal and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop a renovation and remodelling plan of the institution’s facilities including budgets and cash flow projections.
  • Implement the agreed facilities renovation and remodeling plan within time and budget.
  • Support the design of buildings and other facilities in conformity with the requirements of institution.
  • Develop a computer-based civil works management system that ensures timely and quality delivery of civil works.
  • Work with appointed consultants to deliver facilities renovation and remodeling projects within time and budget.
  • Supervise the implementation of upkeep of property and small building works.
  • Supervise artisans and ensure they achieve set targets.
  • Prepare reports arising from the above duties as and when required.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Clerk of Works
(4 Positions)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) in Construction (Structures) OR HND in Building & Civil Engineering OR Civil and Building Technology.
  • Specialization in Building Technology and services, Technical Drawing, Material and Building Technology, Surveying, Workshop Technology, Building Science & Structures, Civil Engineering and general administration skills.
  • Have a minimum seven (7) years working experience in the position of Clerk of Works on projects of similar nature
  • Age between 32 - 45 years
  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • Excellent inter-personal and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key duties and responsibilities:
  • General Clerk of Works duties including; supervision and inspection of the quality of materials in the construction of new buildings
  • Supervision of a range of refurbishment and repair works to the existing buildings.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the management.
