icipe is an intergovernmental organisation funded by government aid agencies, UN organisations and private foundations to carry out research and training in environmentally sound and sustainable management of arthropods for improving health and agricultural productivity in the tropics.

icipe has approximately 300 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes, located at various sites in Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.

icipe requires the services of two young and dynamic 
Junior Accountants. One position is based at Duduville campus while the other is based at icipe Thomas Odhiambo Campus (ITOC) in Mbita. The successful candidates will report to the Project Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for the following key activities among other things;
  • Processing of field and imprest returns from collaborators
  • Preparing of donor financial statements on special projects
  • Reconciliation of ledger for the donor financial statements
  • Preparing data for posting using macros
  • Analysing Payroll and other control accounts
  • Compile and input on monthly basis, data relating to creditors, debtors and general journals
  • Prepare monthly report/invoicing on specified debtors
  • Interact with Project Accounting Manager on daily basis
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree from a recognised university plus at least CPA II
  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy commercial environment or an international organisation, on general accounting ledger, and financial reporting
  • Must be computer literate with excellent working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets
  • Must be able to use Sun accounting package
  • Knowledge and proficiency in finance/accounting principles
  • Be organised and possess ability to multi-task
  • Good interpersonal skills are necessary.
