The Kenya Wildlife Service is a State Corporation, whose responsibility is to manage and conserve wildlife in Kenya.

The Service seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced individuals to fill the following positions at its Headquarters and field.

1. Deputy Director Finance and Administration

Reporting to the Director, the overall responsibility for the successful candidate will be to provide strategic direction and guidance in the functions within the Finance and Administration Division: Financial Management, Procurement Management, Administrative Systems and policies in order to attain set corporate objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, guidance, coordination and direction in the departments within the division
  • Responsible for the formulation and implementation of Divisional and Departmental plans in line with corporate objectives
  • Ensuring effective management of Financial, Procurement and Administration functions
  • Ensuring formulation and implementation of strategies and programs to support implementation of corporate plan
  • Coordinating the Service’s investment activities
  • Ensuring the preparation of budgets, financial and management accounts
  • Interpreting financial reports and providing appropriate advise to Functional Managers
  • Ensuring corporate financial viability and
  • Ensuring compliance to corporate and statutory financial and administrative requirements
Job Requirements
  • Master of Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Report writing, communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Proven Leadership skills
  • Competency in Accounting & Financial Management with CPA(K) is an added advantage
  • High Level of Integrity with Ten (10) years working experience as a Function Head.
2. Head of Corporate Communications

Reporting to the Deputy Director Strategy and Change, the overall responsibility for the successful candidate will be to ensure a positive corporate image.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing and implementing departmental plans in line with the corporate objectives.
  • Liaising with internal and external organizations on public affairs.
  • Establishing networks with stakeholders.
  • Formulating public relations budget proposals and work plans.
  • Advising senior management on public relations strategies.
  • Coordinating protocol and reception of distinguished visitors.
  • Coordinating and supervising production of articles and other information material for various media.
  • Producing, printing and distributing in-house journals, newsletters, corporate and other related publications.
  • Organizing and coordinating public relations activities and events in KWS.
Job Requirements
  • Masters degree in Mass Media and Communication or equivalent
  • Diploma in Public Relations
  • Report writing, communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • IT skills.
  • Must be a member of a professional body.
  • Ten (10) years working experience in a similar function.
3. Corporation Secretary

Reporting to the Director, the overall responsibility for the successful candidate will be to ensure effective and efficient management of corporate affairs and compliance with enabling legal matters and other relevant legislations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advising the board and management on all legal matters
  • Ensuring that the corporation complies with statutory and other regulatory requirements
  • Representing the Service in Court and arbitrations as may be required
  • Coordinating all litigations in liaison with the Attorney General’s Chambers, Government Ministries and external lawyers
  • Safeguarding of corporation interest.
  • Drawing and processing legal notices and other gazettements that are issued under the requirements of the Wildlife (Conservation and Management) Act
  • Preparing Board business and maintaining proper records of Board’s proceedings
  • Keeping safe custody of Corporate Seal and security documents
  • Preparing and vetting of contracts
  • Coordinating the review of laws, by-laws and regulations relating to the organization
Job Requirements
  • Masters degree in Law
  • Post graduate Diploma in Law and Advocate of the High court.
  • Report writing, communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • IT skills.
  • Must be a member of a professional body.
  • Ten (10) years working experience in a similar institution.
