The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has an opening for the position of Computer Management Assistant. The position will be available immediately.
Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the Computer Management Specialist (IT Advisor, Nairobi), the Computer Management Assistant (LAN) (Systems Administrator) performs day to day administration of the server and workstation systems on the local area network (LAN).
This position sets up and manages the domain, mail server system, file and print services, automated installation services, hardware repairs, basic user training on systems, virus and systems security management.
The incumbent has primary responsibility for implementation of CDC server and workstation systems and security polices, and installations of the main systems and applications for CDC staff.
Qualifications Required:
Note: All must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information
supporting each item.
·         Completion of high school is required. Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electronics & Electrical Engineering is also required. Certification in Microsoft server software such as MCP or MCSA or MCSE or MCITP is also required.
·         Five years of progressively responsible work experience in computer science, inclusive of two years experience using Windows version 2000 or 2003 Server management, MS Exchange software version 2000 or 2003 is required. The experience includes 2 years hands on computer support staff for a medium sized office environment is also required.
·         Level IV (fluent) English ability is required and Level IV (fluent) Kiswahili ability also required.
Selection Process:
When equally qualified, U.S. citizen eligible family member (USEFMS) and U.S. veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidates specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
Additional Selection Criteria:
·         Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
·         Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
·         Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
·         Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
·         Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
