Finlays Maintenance Planning Manager Job in Kenya

We invite applications for the post of 
Maintenance Planning Manager which has arisen in our Tea Extracts division in Kericho.

The Job

Reporting to the Plant Engineer , the job holder will ensure efficient preventative and cost effective maintenance of machinery, associated buildings, roadways and fences of the Factory.


Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure high technical standards are applied to a highly visible and effective Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme
  • Lead, empower and develop the Planning Technician and all Maintenance staff to achieve a culture that will deliver a high quality, low cost, pro-active maintenance function, encouraging and rewarding excellent performance
  • Review, specify, advice the Plant Engineer on procurement and inspect the machinery spare parts, machines and equipment.
  • Ensure appropriate engineering designs, quality workmanship and safety standards are adhered to and maintained.
  • Guide the Planning Technician to maintain a highly visible 14 day Rolling Maintenance Plan (RMP) board and a Backlog, Parts Control, Scheduling (BPCS) board
  • Maintain close contact with Stores to ensure timely delivery of key spares, machinery and consumables, and appropriate specifications
  • Ensure an effective and open communication channel to all other departments, with special functional links with Stores, Production and Electrical and Instrumentation functions.
  • Participate in establishing and maintaining plant policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that key Plant machinery and equipment reliability performance indicators are achieved
  • Responsible for controlling all maintenance expenditure.
  • Prepare and distribute maintenance reports e.g. monthly report for F&O meetings
  • Participate in HACCP plant implementation and maintenance.
  • Advise the Plant Engineer on alternative parts/components to maintain or improve plant and machinery reliability and reduce costs of maintenance year on year per kg of extract powder produced.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer literate with hands on experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing factory works
  • Registered with Engineers Registration Board
  • Excellent communication, supervisory, organising and planning skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Must be a team player
